Not everywhere has the right angle or distance from the sun to be able to absorb/create vitamin d all year long. So we supplement and make the kids hang out outside as much as possible.

1000 IU is not very much. Children over 5 should have 5000 a day. Adults should have 10,000.

Do NOT follow this guy's Numbers 600iud is recommended for ages 1 to 70 by the NIH

And vitamin d is NOT water soluble so You don't pass extra through your pee...

Bad advice. I would start with determining if you're deficient in vitamin d in the first place. If you're not, it's not necessary to supplement.
