Seeing a lot of comments with not so best advice. If all you need is lug nuts and 90% of car maintenance, even on rusted parts, the DCF923 will take care of you.

This thing (DCF900) is in the semi-truck or tractor maintenance range.

This is a great little tool!

I change tires annually between winter/3-season and this will loosen those things set at 120ft-lbs without problem. Your Tesla and SUVs fit that bill.

Plus you can get a nice little soft case for it, something like this https://a.co/d/9kkeXVZ

Even the smallest of Dewalt batteries (slim 2aH) will give you enough charge to go through a dozen wheels. use the high torque setting to bust the lugnuts (or exhaust bolts, or transmission plugs) loose and then flip it to the lowest setting to slowly back off the nut. Use the medium setting to get things snug and then a torque wrench to cinch things up.

Because of its relatively short size, it can be used in fairly tight spaces - but it is heavy!

The dewalt is the best as this retails for 349+ tax

I bought it just to have the extra battery since i have all dewalt tools mostly now. I have used Ridgid tools and they do not compare to dewalt tools
built alot better IMO
I'm hoping for specifics on these two particular tools, not general opinions on brands. The current Ridgid impact wrench has its roots in the Octane series of tools, and the same manufacturer also produces Milwaukee power tools, it's not bargain bin stuff. However, I don't know anybody that has used the DeWalt.

Online yep. Paid $216 shipped + tax. Chatted showed them the price. Their process is place order and then let rep know order # and they will adjust price. Just make sure to get approval first, some reps may try to check if they ship to your location and then may not honor it, other reps don't care. They can't do the PM for in store pickup, so you have to have it shipped, or you can try local PM in store, but they probably have to have a B&M store nearby to your location for that to work.
Paid no tax at bomgaars just shipping so it was cheaper for me $216 total why did u choose to pm home Depot?

Is this a reliable site to order from?
Yes, they recently purchased the Orschlen's stores in small towns like mine that Tractor Supply didn't want to own. They're an authorized reseller.

DEWALT 20V MAX XR 1/2-in High Torque Impact Wrench. Delivering 1030 ft-lbs of max fastening torque and 1400 ft-lbs of max breakaway torque

Holy smokes, is this overkill for Car and most truck repairs?
Depends how old and rusty your car is....

Thoughts on comparison to Ridgid 1/2 high torque version with charger, 4ah max battery, bag, and spare 4ah (non max) battery for $249 (free shipping)?

I was tempted by the DeWalt 899 with 4ah and charger at around the same price, made in USA, but the Ridgid is smaller, lighter, and more powerful, and lifetime service including batteries.

This DeWalt deal is a little more enticing. I need this for automotive DIY work, like suspension bolts and bearing press that my pneumatic 1/2" impact struggles with or flat out can't do.

Ended up PM'ing to HD, cause they won't ship to CA.

Thank You!!! HD priced matched via chat with shipping to CA $217.91.
The only Dewalt tools I have is the 1/4 impact & hummer drill combo with 2-3ah batteries & 150 lumens LED light that bought over 10 years ago lol.
But last month, I bought 2x$150 kits with free 2-6ah batteries from HD, so I could use those batteries with this impact if needed.
On another hand, I already have Milwaukee 2767 1/2" High Torque wrench, and I really, really, didn't need another High Torque wrench from Dewalt, as most of my tools are Milwaukee m12 & m18.

See Torque Test Channel's ranking chart. DeWALT DCF900 stole the top position away from Ridgid, Milwaukee, Snap-On… everyone.

Octane and Fuel lines are essentially the same as DeWALT XR: most powerful, extra duty, brushless, pro-grade tools for the trades.

this specific dewalt is the best impact wrench currently available going by actual real world tests, not what's written on the box. so if you're looking for more power, this is it.

if weight and size are your main concerns, then i guess it would be better to shop by dimensions. i saw pictures of them side by side and they seem pretty close. can't comment on weight.
