Hope this helps somebody. Looks like the 12gb RTX 3060 cards are all dropping price now, some pretty significantly, and shave another $30-$40 off for renewed/refurb/open box if you can find them.

Any comments on the benefits of the 12gb graphics memory on these cards vs the 8gb on the 6000 series AMD GPUs? Seems as games get more complex/intense the 3060 12gb might have more longevity/staying power?

Exactly this, I have seen streamers with issues running 2080 super 8gb cards with some modern titles since game developers seem to be optimizing for cards with more memory. Developers prerender huge amounts which need to be cached off and so games which utilize these assets, even in lower resolution(1080p etc) experience stutter when having to swap assets in and out of vram multiple times in a particular area(see reviews of the deadspace remake for example). Whether or not this is a deliberate tactic to force people to move to new gpus or just lazy developers, I don't know, but long story short...don't buy an 8gb card for an upgrade, look at 12gb atleast.

BTW my wife has a 3060 12gb card in her pc, have been happy with it.

Is it worth upgrading to a 3060 from a 6gb 2060? Or bite the bullet and go to 3060ti? I don't want to spend much more than 300

Depends what price u can find each for, I found my wife's 3060 12gb for 250, 3060ti was much more expensive and had the same 8gb limitations this card has, just be aware that even with the additional power the ti has the memory will lead to issues on some games especially in new releases and you will likely be considering yet another upgrade sooner that you will have to with the additional vram of the 12gb 3060

  5. May not be GPU related but, being able to have 200-300 browser tabs open, many of them might be Youtube windows (I do lots of things at the same time, cant change this any time soon)

For a 12GB 3060 GPU, the price isn't that bad. Holding the line till a better price comes along.
