RAM on my MacBooks are always making me upgrade earlier then I like. That's Apple's intent.

I have 16GB on a M1 Mac mini and RAM is the constraint. I have 2 IDEs for programming, some emulators, Teams, and Safari. I hit high memory pressure everyday. It's workable, for now.

16GB reduces how long I can use the Mac Mini by years.

Like others have said, more ram. External Storage is cheap. I have the 16gb model, and I have run out of ram a few times.

Ugh just ordered the 14" M2 16/512 from Costco yesterday before the sale ended. Tempted to cancel and pick this up instead. Wish it was 14" though as the 16" is just a little too bulky for on the go.

Edit: 14" version is $1899 after coupon, though the processor is a step down to the 8 core. Ugh.

And since this is the M1 Pro, 512GB SSD isn't any slower than the 1TB SSD.
