Good deal, but I'd prefer to spend a little more for the Tomahawk motherboard.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Co...bo.4549365 $350 combo

https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32...6820374369 $105 for slightly slower, but lower latency, RAM. You could also buy the ram featured in OP's combo.

$455 total, so $18 more for bigger heatsinks, 2 more USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a better audio chipset, and LED power headers.

If you have an MC near you, it's hard to argue with that unless you really want the game.

My nearest MC is 6 hours away though, so...this is a no-brainer for me.

No this is $80 more for 16 extra Gb of ram and a game. It's $60 more to buy another 16gb of the cl36 that's part of the MC combo.

So if the game worth $20 to you or you could save $20 and not deal with Newegg

I thought this too. Had this been a 12900 then I'd bite perhaps

Interesting. Now I'm wondering if I should cancel and switch. In general I prefer ASUS to MSI.

Better cancel quickly. Newegg puts items into "shipping" status super quick so you cannot just cancel the order, but have to pay a restocking fee.

For multithread workloads, absolutely. The i5-9400 only has 6 threads, the 12700k has 20.. The 12700k is around 300% faster in MT.

For gaming, also yes, assuming you are pairing it with a midrange GPU from this or last gen. The 12700k ends up being around 90% faster in single thread, and while thats not a 1:1 translation to gaming performance, its still considerably faster.

You also get an IGP which is beneficial for video editing, fast DDR5 and a pretty good motherboard.

Contemplating grabbing this instead of a 13500 for an Unraid box. That TDP difference though...

I'm not able to get the code to apply on this other Tomahawk bundle. I'm getting $410 in cart. Anyone else?
