Even the colder climates in the US have been out for a couple weeks…very confused. (Edit: apparently not everywhere. I have no idea how summer programs and day camps can even plan for extended years and snow day makeups!)

You can also usually wait a couple days after school starts and they normally do this all again Wink

But seems WAY early for this. Or you can wait a couple days after school starts and they normally do this all again Wink
Nope, next week for a lot of us, and some till the week after. End of January-march the snow days added up.

It's known as corporate greed. The same reason Canada now has Black Friday, even though Thanksgiving there is in early October. Sears Canada started it, but it's now long gone into bankruptcy liquidation: sometimes Karma works.

A sale is a sale no matter what they call it. Seems like decent deals in here. If you have your list of supplies for the upcoming year—work ahead. If it's too soon for ya, SD has lots of other things to look at.

Shop now if you know what you need (most parents who have experience know). Schools usually have a materials list but I doubt it's handed out this early (could be wrong). Hate shopping later/last minute sales with all the "people" @ Wally. I swear that place drains IQ points.

We usually end up just paying the ~$10 surcharge for the premade packs from third parties. Saves a ton of hassle, especially when the supply list has obscure stuff on it. YMMV depending on participation, but those things are gamechangers if you hate spending hours in big box stores.

Supply lists just got published here in west Texas yesterday so seems to be good timing. Pre order kits also started taking orders today. If the complainers didn't want to buy school supplies early why did they click on this deal

Thanks for your opinion. It is not backed by facts though. I am sure you're capable of speaking for your school district and surrounding area, but not beyond that.

Some schools have arrangements with 1stdayofachool type of companies which provides kits at certain price ($10-20 more than sale price). It works for us as nearest walmart/target is 35 miles away.

Actually, conferring with my coworkers all across the country on a daily basis (NYC, SF, IA, NC, a pretty broad cross-section). So not fully informed, but anecdotally I haven't heard of schools still being in session in mid-June since the 80s anywhere in the US. I even edited my post.

I didn't post with any vitriol, but this is SD — always one notch above tweens on YouTube. I never understand it. Sorry to have offended anyone with my statement, it was very calendarist of me Wink

Hopefully my couple of tips added to the thread have been useful to some.

Great timing as my LOs school has published the school grade supply list. Got (almost) everything and ready for pick up later today. Thanks OP!
