This was released on September 22, 2021. The current version Surface Pro 9 was released in 2022.

On my personal experience great device, but I really feel like 128 GB it is not good enough. I have to always think about what do I need or not and having an external ssd.

Solid deal. This is a great device & worth it over the new model. You can upgrade the HD on this one as well. I added a 512 GB that I picked up on ebay for $40.

I had the pro 3. It had a micro sd slot. I'm not sure if the new ones do but you can buy a 500gb micro sd for like $50 now. So just put one of those in of your concerned. If you're really tech savvy or know someone who is, you can do some hacky stuff to make windows show it as one drive and automatically put frequently used files on the internal drive for speed. This is over kill so I don't recommend it but the option is there.

I bought one of these primarily for note taking at university. It constantly stuttered and struggled to keep up with my pencil (ymmv). I ended up getting an iPad Pro and would recommend that for anyone buying a device like this for note taking.

Any difference between iPad Pro and iPad air for note taking?

Um…that's unfortunate. I was going to her surface pro because I want to use it with other external hardware which the iPad Pro won't be able to do. How it is as a day to day machine?

No returns allowed. Think carefully before buying this older generation device.

Great price for the Surface pro 8. The 8gb Ram is the dealbreaker for me.

Yes 8gb is not enough for a tablet like this. It has iGPU and high resolution screen, which uses additional memory.
8gb is barely enough for office apps. If you open a few office apps + a few browser pages, it will eat all your RAM.
IMHO, 16gb is a must.

I've had Word, Excel and dozens of tabs open in an older 8GB Surface Pro without issue. There's a limit, of course, as there is with my 16GB machines. To each their own.
