I had one of these that lasted about 3 years before it started acting up. Thx for the heads-up. Called my local store but they said it's been deleted and there are none left in the state unfortunately (NJ).

It lasted only 3 years and you still would buy it again?

It still works, just not as well as it used to. I think that I first picked it up on sale as well close to this price.

It depends how much he used, if he actually maintained it by cleaning or using oil sheets and made sure not to overheat it. I had one from staples, lasted me more than 10 years, bought it for $175. I used oil sheets, made sure to clean the blades every few months, occasionally shredded staples, did not have a single issue. My brother borrowed it and he totalled it in 2 months. I don't know what he shredded, or how many pages he shoved down, when I got it back, it had paper caked into blades like they were playdough. I used knives and scissors and chisels truing to unclog it. I gave up, it's going to garbage.
