Polyester is not a breathable fabric. While it can feel nice when you first put it on it will eventually heat up and retain the heat. I don't know how so many clothing manufacturers market it as breathable but it's just not.

Some breathable fabrics are: linen, cotton, wool (though wool will retain more heat than the others it is still more breathable than polyester) .

Your best bet for socks is usually 100% cotton but it's getting hard to come by for a reasonable price for some reason.

as someone else mentioned it doesn't breathe and will create a fungal environment in your shoes and your feet

it can also cause some contact dermatitis too once everything starts remaining wet

as close to 100% cotton with whatever small % that is elastic/spandex to give some stretch to the fabric.

usually it's like 97%/3% or maybe even 90%/10%

I wear thorlos since 2008 or so. I don't think there's any cotton in them. I'm afraid to go back to cotton. DTS is some wool and i don't like them either. Next "sale" i'll try non-wool version.

i can't stand any wool. between wool and cotton i'd go 100% cotton.

I bought these socks for the "cooling" effect. They're thin and not much cushioning. Sometimes I feel like my feet are moist, but upon taking the socks off, everything feels dry. I'm done with Nike Dri-Fit. They're thicker and more cushioning. But at 43% cotton, the socks get wet and when I wash them, they take the longest to dry! What do yall recommend for active, hot weather, everyday wear?

Dickies Dri-Tech are cushioned and stay dry.

I never thought socks would be one of the bigger concerns in my adult life. I wear size 12 shoes. Sock size 6-12 is the most common and they are very often too small and tight. Size 12-15 ends up with the heel up past my achilles.

Then finding a blend that is somewhat stretchy but doesn't feel like I'm wearing plastic bags on my feet. And personally I hate the stretchy ring for arch support. Some day I'll find the kind I like and buy THOUSANDS.
