I bought this phone from Walmart late last year for ~$100. I activated it on Total's cheapest plan and didn't replenish after the first 30 days were up. Turned it off at that point and when I turned it back on about 30 days later (a little over 60 days from activation) it was unlocked.

You only need to pay one month. After the month expires you will have already activated the phone and after 60 days the phone will unlock.

Have bought two XR, one iPhone 11 in the past year with Total Wireless and Straight Talk. Latest was a used 11 bought in January this year, unlocked after one month payment and 60-days.

There are occasionally issues with unlocking.

Message 611611 with UNLOCK and you get automated response when device will be unlocked. Device needs to be activated first for 60-day counter.

Got one from Verizon's site, love this phone and buying couple to keep as back ups once they unlock. Read somewhere we might not get another home button phone ever and to me this is best phone as far as cost performance ratio at MSRP and for $160 before CB it is a steal!

Sometimes , it will not unlock after 60 days. I have a tracfone iPhone 11 and it does not unlock

From what I'm seeing online, it only unlocks after 60 days if activated through verizon while the walmart plan won't unlock for 12 months.. hope that's outdated or incorrect though as I want to get this..

Have you tried the face id yet?
I thought I needed the home button too but after trying out face id, it's hard to imagine going back. My concern was not being able to check my phone while it's sitting on my desk or while on my car mount but it hasn't been an issue. in fact it's faster than waiting for the fingerprint to register. Most of the time you can't even tell it's going through unlock process.

That's what I am thinking too since Walmart Family Mobile runs on Tmobile network while 60-day unlock is only good for Verizon network, so it's safe to get the Straight Talk or Total by Verizon version.

From what I can tell, if I bought through Total by Verizon I can unlock after 60 days of service? Website is a little odd, branding changes when you hit unlocking policy.

I think the Pixel 6a deal is much better if you want atleast a daily use phone vs a backup iphone.
