I bought this phone from Walmart late last year for ~$100. I activated it on Total's cheapest plan and didn't replenish after the first 30 days were up. Turned it off at that point and when I turned it back on about 30 days later (a little over 60 days from activation) it was unlocked.

You only need to pay one month. After the month expires you will have already activated the phone and after 60 days the phone will unlock.

Have bought two XR, one iPhone 11 in the past year with Total Wireless and Straight Talk. Latest was a used 11 bought in January this year, unlocked after one month payment and 60-days.

There are occasionally issues with unlocking.

Message 611611 with UNLOCK and you get automated response when device will be unlocked. Device needs to be activated first for 60-day counter.

These prepaid carriers are refusing to start discounting iPhone 12 and up which is when the real iPhones start getting good

2nd month of service is not required. Activating the phone *starts the 60 day timer*. After the 60 days, phone is unlocked by Verizon through apple's servers (that's the mechanism Apple devices use for carrier locks). The phone unlocks in 60 days regardless of how long it stayed activated.

In fact, if you or your friend already has Total by Verizon, you can put their sim in this device, make a call, send a text or two, then put the sim back in their device. 60 days later, this phone will be unlocked....

Can you activate online, without using the phone, and will that start the 60 day period? Do you have to use the phone at al during the 60 days to be eligible for unlock?

yea, I was waiting for a metro iPhone 12 deal but no luck.
boost has an iPhone 12 deal, $200 with $40 plan

most of us got it on the $15
the negative, having to wait 12 months paid service for it to unlock.

Can it be unlocked 60 days after activation - or is it after 60 days of active service? The webpage says 60 days after activation, but I somehow doubt you can pay for one month and then get it unlocked after 60 days. Make sure you make a call or few text or it will not unlock after 60 days. I have made that mistake before.
