You've never tried to file a claim with AllState's worthless warranty. I could tell you a couple long stories on a few laptops that arrived broken through eBay and the run arounds and the finger pointing on who is liable. They'll actually want you to file a claim through the shipper (UPS) first, even though I could prove they were not damaged by shipping. eBay will NOT help you with the warranty madness. But dont take my word on it, just read the comments from the last 5 years at https://www.facebook.com/AllstateProtectionPlans

Asurion, who Amazon uses, is much much easier to deal with.

Well, Ebay Certified Refurbished 2 year warranty through Allstate is very tempting.

Compared to Amazon's 90 day policy on refurbished (unless you spend $63.99 on an extended warranty), eBay is the better deal.

Probably it is not directly from Lenovo but from a third party.

I'm seeing an extra 15% off on eBay with REFURBDEAL if you add the coupon code in checkout. Brings it close to around $404 before tax

which is actually better, Flex 5i or Flex 7?
$20 more for 400 nits in Flex 5i
but Flex 7 is thinner and lighter
Otherwise quite similar

There are some negative reviews by previous buyers who report Microsoft registration issues. Perhaps the refurbisher should have installed a clean version of Win 11 so that the buyer doesn't have to.

A suggestion would be to have your child get their EDU email address quickly. Then keep an eye out on the EDU sales coming up closer to when school starts. You usually have to register/verify with an EDU email address to get the promos. Some years you'll find awesome deals, some years they're bleh. Sometime you'll get extra perks through EDU sales like an extra year manufacture warranty (Acer and HP does this sometimes).

Your story doesn't compute; received purchased item damaged in shipping has NOTHING to do with warranty claim (neither would UPS). Seller, then Ebay, and then payment form (PayPal and/or credit card bank) would be ones to issue refund and handle this.

Also, your link to warranty co.'s FB page doesn't seem to provide any insight.

Allstate Warranty might indeed be awful (or, alternatively, wonderful), but unfortunately no way to gauge from info you provided...

12th gen i7 with a single heat pipe. Seems a bit disingenuous to me since the thing is going to be thermal throttled often. Excluding their legion line... I haven't had the best of experiences with Lenovo.

it's a low wattage U series. a single heat pipe is fine unless you are trying to push the integrated graphics and a bunch cores really hard at once. heavy gaming or composite video editing/3d work could cause throttling, but I wouldn't recommend a U series with integrated graphics for those tasks anyways. for web browsing, photo editing, light video editing, playing a few older games or lighter modern games, this is perfectly enough.
