You've never tried to file a claim with AllState's worthless warranty. I could tell you a couple long stories on a few laptops that arrived broken through eBay and the run arounds and the finger pointing on who is liable. They'll actually want you to file a claim through the shipper (UPS) first, even though I could prove they were not damaged by shipping. eBay will NOT help you with the warranty madness. But dont take my word on it, just read the comments from the last 5 years at https://www.facebook.com/AllstateProtectionPlans

Asurion, who Amazon uses, is much much easier to deal with.

Well, Ebay Certified Refurbished 2 year warranty through Allstate is very tempting.

Compared to Amazon's 90 day policy on refurbished (unless you spend $63.99 on an extended warranty), eBay is the better deal.

I agree with this. With a refurb, if the item arrives damaged or nonworking (whether or not it's obvious shipping damage), you deal with the seller. The extended warranty is for issues that crop up after the fact.

FYI Costco has similar deal for the i5-1235u version which is pretty comparable i7-1255U only $25 more for brand new.

Ah you're right, didn't realize the screen size was different and the others you mentioned as well. Now this makes my decision harder.

Edit: Actually the costco one is the Iris graphics as well.

Hmm that Costco one got me wondering which to get. I kinda want the more traditional aspect ratio and it being new instead of refurb. I was looking for 14" anyways. The 14" one here is $45 cheaper but refurb.

Nvm seems the refurb is still 16:10 but just a strange resolution between 1080p and 1440p

The code didn't work for me on the 5i on eBay. I like the specs and would buy it with the coupon -- it is a slickdeal. But given that the regular price on Amazon appears to be $549, I'll hold out for later to get closer to the $400 price point.

i tried it on the 7 model too and it worked, it is little less expensive but I went with the 5 model.
