First time I've seen the Canon R7 on sale. Hard to decide between this, or the new R8. Definitely one of the best mirrorless, non dslr, cameras currently on the market.

Electronic 1st curtain. When set to full Electronic mode the buffer maxes out even quicker. I've never experienced this in the R6 or R6 Mark II. Then again, the R6s is 21.4 MP while the R7 is 34.4 MP. A 13 MP difference is big. They should have designed the R7 with a CFexpress slot since many folks may shoot sports with it.

Resolution is only part of the story, the internal buffer is just smaller as well.
Compare the R6 to the R8, the R8s internal buffer is significantly smaller resulting in far worse buffer sizes at a relatively similar resolution.
If you are shooting extended bursts, you probably should be using cRAW instead. A faster card does not do much in terms of burst length on the R7, as seen here (https://rfshooters.com/blog/camer...ory-cards/ )its only a 1-2 shot difference between class I and II cards. A CFeB slot would have just raised the price, when the internal buffer is the main issue.
All that said, its crazy to see any deal on the R7 already. Its not quite the successor to the 7DII that people wanted, but its certainly a solid performer.

The next step was to try cRAW but it was a rental so I had to return it
Had mine for a while to replace my 7DmkII and it beats it in every way except build quality and the fact that there's no official battery grip for it. I bought a CBG extender, which worked great for my pinky moving off of the camera while shooting, but it's plastic and tends to bend where the grip and my pinky meet.
As far as buffer, yeah you're going to fill it fast using e shutter and H+ since it's 30fps. I try to avoid e shutter anyway due to the rolling shutter, but I'll use it in a pinch if needed. I'm mostly in EFCS and shoot 15fps and cRAW to mitigate buffer issues.
Have the R7. It's been a fantastic 2nd/B cam for my filmmaking. The photo side I feel is a little weaker to older cameras such as my Fuji XT3. However, the video features are pretty incredible for a entry level camera. 4k 60p, oversampling, clog3, incredible battery life, etc. Overall this is a solid camera offering alot of value for it's pricepoint.

I bought an R7 recently and love it compared to my Sony A7RIII with crop lens or A6400. It's faster, shoots better, and does everything I need for the price. I'm impressed.

I logged on just to comment: you have to be the first one I've seen say they might like their canon over Sony.

I haven't tried a 300MB/s SD card yet but so far I'm not impressed.

I found this metal one and it's WAY better, but at 2x the price. Even then, it's still worth it to me.
