With the 16.2 32GB 1TB hovering at $2500, this doesn't seem bad. Of course the 14" is good too but I like the 16.2 size for home and heat consideration. With music plugins I actually can use the 64 GB ram but 4TB storage is extra. None of these deals are perfect so it is a matter of what you need and afford. For Apple, these are good deals for M1.
At the price of my razer this is actually a decent deal. Even Razer charges similarly gave me 16gb and 1tb, which suchs cause i needed to spend like an extra $300 to upgrade my m.2 and ram. So I think this is a good deal, but the issue here seems like at what point does it become apparent that Apple will drop the M1 for M2, and are they just liquidating all the m1 units for m2 and soon m3. Seemingly the jumps in performance arent that big per generation at least in CPU performance, but it also goes to show that maybe they can't keep releasing new chips that often or the value is lost for each iteration. Kinda the same issue that phones have currently is that the generational performance leaps arent that significant so long as they improve on efficiency and battery life.
Great specs if you edit high resolution video all day, or want to future proof yourself for the next 10-15 years.
I think MacBook Pro by default will last 10-15 years. I still have a working 2011 MacBook Pro. But yes, by then we might be moving to 8K120fps videos and such and Im not sure if the M1 Max can even handle 8K120fps properly.

Me thinks 10-15 years is pushing it just a little. Like, by about 5 and 10 years. Due to Wall Street Darling Tim dramatically speeding up the dropping of support for 2016-forward computers (to make people buy his new stuff). His 2016 Pros are already "Legacy" while my trusty mid-2015 Steve Jobs Retina is still fully supported if repairs are needed. But app developers, and even Google Chrome, have been ending support for pre-Big Sur operating systems.
For value-conscious power users, this is a solid machine for the next 5 years.
But I get your (somewhat over-enthusiastic) point.

M1 is long in the tooth. Since Apple's computer business dropped by 31% last year, there are a lot of M1 units sitting in warehouses collecting dust. Prices for M1 units may well drop further. Then again, they're still selling the horrid 13" MBPro not-a-pro, so who knows?

Then there's the M3 on the horizon: https://www.bloomberg.c
