Game is getting great reviews, too entrenched in Diablo 4 and a new Dragon's Dogma replay or I'd probably snag it. Remnant 2 is right around the corner so this is probably a game I'll pick up later in the year.
I got excited until I saw it was the X-Com style. What a bummer.
Did not play it yet but looked at a stream of someone playing, and from the looks of it apart from it being isometric view and having X-Com like crew management, the gameplay itself is not really like X-Com at all. Kind of reminds me more of Dawn of War 2 except you only command one group with more abilities.

Yeah, the reviews have been great so far. And as a big fan of Aliens and this type of strategy game I had to pick it up. Although I am in the same boat as you with Diablo 4 currently taking up most of my free time.

I loved XCom and yes, it's not like XCom, since you cannot individually position soldiers. You can pause it and send one soldier to weld a door, another to set up a turret, etc, you can also put them as a group behind cover, and hide from searching aliens.
So while it isn't XCom it does require tactics and it's has a great Aliens feel of tension, it's much more intense than playing XCom. I find it a bit hard on my 24" monitor to see everything, I think it would benefit from a large monitor like 32".
Very good game, got 30+ hours out of it. XCOM with real time combat. Skill menu slows time. Kinda want to restart on nightmare. It is buggy but already gotten some patches to fix stuff. If you like Aliens and XCOM style management it's a slam dunk. played entirely on steam deck, use protonge 8.4. performance is decent on the deck. I think it's worth it at this price definitely with the caveat that I'm a huge aliens fan and I like XCOM style management with isometric tactical real time combat. also get past the prologue because that's the weakest part of the game. really hopeful this game gets some love because it's surprisingly good. it's doing some really cool things that XCOM didn't do. maybe not as much replayability but neither is XCOM without mods.

It's nice to see others giving love to Remnant... so many people haven't tried it and I absolutely loved it. I spent a lot of time replaying worlds for the alternate bosses and to find the power ups...also enjoyed helping others through the levels..
