I would be possibly interested to use as a monitor but looks like it's not great at that

I was able to score the 55 inch version [amazon.com] for $109.99 last year so I'm hopeful/optimistic I can get this deal as well; thx OP.

Regarding the 55 inch, the colors were terrible and all washed out. No matter what I did, I never could get the picture to be acceptable.

However, when I connected a Fire Stick 4K Max and tried to adjust the picture quality while the TV was in the HDMI input for it, picture quality improved extraordinarily. Once I adjusted the Black Level and White Level via the Screen Test app [amazon.com], I saw a big improvement.

I set the Fire Stick 4k Max Display settings to the following before adjusting the picture settings when using the Screen Test app [amazon.com]….

Color Depth = 12bits

Color Format = YCbCr

Dynamic Range Settings = Always HDR

I mention all this because at first the 55 inch version of this deal made an awful impression and I'm assuming that the 43" version will have the same issues.

IMO you can improve picture quality dramatically by not using the built in FireTV OS of these TVs and using a Fire TV 4k Max stick instead.

They do make covers, but I honestly haven't looked into them. I designed my back patio addition with TVs in mind, so area is fully covered. Longevity is more so my concern as the Houston heat and humidity will undoubtedly shorten the lives of the screens.
Yeah... I have a screened in back patio in Houston and I'm not going to consider putting a tv out there right now even if I could justify at 99 dollars. Maybe in October. Not like even being outside is bearable right now anyway, tv or no tv

Hey does anyone know if I can plug in a usb stick and play videos thru this things native fire tv interface?

That's what I do with my fire tv stick, I buy an otg adapter to plug into the micro USB port of the stick and plug in the fat32 flash drive.

Just wondering if you can do this with these built-in versions?

I compared this tv to the tcl 43 455 on rtings that was at target for 120ish last year. Seems pretty similar all things considered. Does get brighter.

That TCL for $120 is much better for use as a monitor though, if that matters to you (4:4:4 support on that TCL which is lacking here. It means blurry text is all but guaranteed).

I'm using that specific TCL TV as my primary monitor every day and hoping that deal comes back this year so I can pick up one for the office.

Also worth noting that the specific models really matter. Bad experiences with picture quality on one TCL, Toshiba, Hisense, etc don't mean that every model is bad/slow/etc.

They need you to fill every room with cheap TVs so when the evil 😈 crash the economy, they can keep you in the matrix.
If you are the paranoid type, you can simply not link the TV to internet and connect whatever you want via its HDMI ports.

I chose to use a Firestick 4k Max as I was able to better adjust the TV's picture that way and The Firestick 4k Max has much better overall performance compared to the stock/built in OS. I'm pretty impressed how the picture quality dramatically improved when doing this for the 55 inch $100 I got last year.

As for this deal; I'm starting to realize it's tepid IMO. I went to Walmart a few days ago (Haven't been for years) and I was shocked how low TVs are now in normal retail locations. I saw a few 65" TVs for $299 for example...

that only a small number of people will actually get. Desperate people in this economy I suppose.

No, it's actually quite nice. Better than the TLC that I had in the garage before it. Got the 55 inch for $110 last year and worth double that price.

Thinking back to the 55" tv deal last October for $112, I got a really good deal there. This one is good too and I recommend this TV. It was a lightning deal back then so anybody could go on the website and buy it. Luckily I was home and at my computer and amazon put me into a waiting queue. Then it let me buy it. It will be different this time around because after people are selected, some people are not going to respond. Then others will be selected. I previously only had a 2007 25" TV, so its been a good upgrade. It has the fire remote and you can download and add apps like youtube, apple music, paramount, etc. You can also control the volume with alexa. I have the alexa speaker thing also, which works with it in the other room. The only thing is the TV does not power on when I ask alexa, although it does power off, change volume, and enter and exit apps.
