Its one of those things. If you know, you know. Easy money.
That's B.S. Wifey and I apply for at least 6-8 cc's/year and our credit rating is around 830/ea. Applying for a cc makes a tiny hit to your cc rating which goes away pretty quickly.
If your credit rating is so bad that your worried about this, then you have bigger financial problems to solve.
The amount of new accounts opened per year is only a small percentage of the overall credit formula. The majority of your score is based on you debt to income ratio. I open around 4 cards per year and sit around 790-810 credit score. That is still in the range to get the best available interest rates.

Can we stop repeating what our 1980s Dad's were taught incorrectly? This is false.
I apply for at least 4 cards a year and abuse them for their initial gift and rarely ever pay annual fee. My score is 805 to 830. It dipped to 805 because I leased a car in December.
Do you close all those accounts too? Does that hit your credit harder?
I usually don't close cards without annual fee but closing them may impact your credit if you carry a balance since they look at avg balance carried divided by total credit you have across all cards (not house mortgage). So I have Amex cards with 25,000 limit that I rarely use so keeps my utilized ratio pretty low.
I got this card for the 5% back. The $200 credit appeared instantly. The interest rates on this thing look nasty, but I always pay everything off every month so that should never bite me. (And if I ever do have to let a card balance carry over, I know not to do it with this one.). The one minor bummer is that when I made a purchase from Woot!, an Amazon-owned company, using Amazon Pay, it was put on this card but I only got 1% back because it wasn't Amazon proper.

I got it instantly!
5/24 applies to Chase no matter what cards you own.
But if the application review takes longer than 7 days, then I don't know if you'll get the full $200.
It took 1 day for them to review the application for me. I received the $200 after 1 day.
