Its one of those things. If you know, you know. Easy money.
That's B.S. Wifey and I apply for at least 6-8 cc's/year and our credit rating is around 830/ea. Applying for a cc makes a tiny hit to your cc rating which goes away pretty quickly.
If your credit rating is so bad that your worried about this, then you have bigger financial problems to solve.
The amount of new accounts opened per year is only a small percentage of the overall credit formula. The majority of your score is based on you debt to income ratio. I open around 4 cards per year and sit around 790-810 credit score. That is still in the range to get the best available interest rates.

Opening new accounts with a credit check hits you in multiple places. Credit check, new account and average age of accounts. Every time I open a credit card, I get about a 50pt hit. 820 to 770 easily.

I haven't had a chase card for years and currently have an 828/850 CS...
Definitely not. You CAN apply for the other two prime card variants too (I've had all 3 for 5+ years now), but only have one of each tied you your identity. If someone like me clicks the link, it tells me "it looks like you're already a cardmember).
What are the other 2 variants? I have chase prime visa and synchrony amazon store card.

When I applied for the Amazon Chase Visa card I received a message very similar. Later that day I got a phone call and voice-mail from Chase with a reference number and to call them back. I did and she went over some information and I was approved.

If you want 850 FICO you gotta worry about average age if credit. 😀
Sooo....I applied, approved instantly, $200 in Amazon account. Received card in the mail & name is misspelled. Chase says I have to fill out & send in their Legal Name Change form, copy of SS card or Drivers License for them to change it. WTH?!

The two variants in the context of this thread that I meant at the time were the Store card (like you have) and the Amex business card.

It's the 5/24 rule, not the 24/5
