How do you use a c clamp on the pistons that have to be rotated?

Everyone on here "my car blah blah blah" they are for cars which use a parking brake integrated into the rear caliper. A pry bar, c clamp, or channel lock cannot be used to retract this type. This kit is handy as fark. (Src: 15 year mechanic)

I'm really surprised how much interest there is for this niche Ford-style compressor. What other manufacturers are you guys buying these for? And as mentioned before, there's DIY solutions or a simple 3/8" drive adapter that does the same thing and brake jobs aren't that frequent... there must be a lot of people doing break jobs at home nowadays I guess. It's probably a sign of the looming recession. This is showing front-page for a $2 discount, which is eye-raising.
My Town and country minivan has rear calipers that need this type of tool. Considering my wife got quoted $1300 to do the brakes, I have motivation to do it myself.

Those that use the c clamp etc I guess can't afford to fork over $16.
Or have a car that doesn't need more than a C clamp

Exactly. My Ford has the pistons that require rotating to set the pistons back when replacing the pads.
A few years back, I ruined the rear caliper and a C-clamp before I figured out that the piston needed to be rotated on my Impala. I have kit similar to this that works well. Autozone will allow you to "rent" tools like this (for free), but buying this will save you a couple trips to the store.

Having worked on my own brakes for over 30 years I have never come across the need to use this toolset.

Any car with an electronic parking brake is going to need to have the rear brake calipers retracted using this tool. Sure, there are other ways to do it, but these sets are pretty cheap and if you do your own brakes, doesn't hurt to own a set.

All the different discs seem really excessive and take up space. And after all that it doesnt seem to cover 2 and 4 piston calipers very well

Or we just have a little skill and ability that allows us to bank that 16 dollars.
Yep. I even did it faster than this guy...45 seconds with a needle nose pliers and save these $16 for something more useful.

Rotating pistons are solid and have a cross to place a tool. I used the largest flat head or pry bar and turned it like a screw. Most rotating pistons are smaller and placed in the rear.

Volkswagen / Audi / Porsche require twisting the rear caliper pistons for anyone wondering
My SVT Focus using German brakes need rotation as well. My 2015 Accord Sport is using this rotating piston at the rear as well.

I paid HF $40 with coupon for a similar set five years ago. This is a good deal.

Me too on my SVT Focus. Didn't know it exist until then.

In for one. Did the brakes on a cx5 recently and the rear brakes needed this tool. Rented it from O'Reillys. For $16 I'd rather own it.

Same van. This tool helps a ton. Easy to do yourself with a few other simple tools

My thought was just the opposite. Having worked on my own brakes for 30+ years, I have never come across a set of REAR breaks that didnt need this toolset.
