I was on the fence, but now I am definitely going to watch.
I've seen the screener as part of early watching. The movie is really fantastic. Its a true story, so nothing fringe, weird, or out in left field. Just a great movie, of a true story, of an FBI agent giving up his job to go save real kids in another country. I don't know about all the other stuff, but the movie was darn good and Jim Caviezel was fantastic like he always is
I get the premise. I also get the skepticism behind investigative reporting [vice.com]. You'd expect survivors to come forward with testimony or at least seeing reporters trying to get this testimony from "all the successful" operations which took place. Legitimize the process. But perhaps media buries it due to the billions made in pedophilia? Too controversial for mainstream? Who knows. One thing is for sure, trafficking happens. It's disgusting and gross. Will this movie kickstart some minds to get more involved in whatever preventative process? Perhaps this is the goal. Or maybe it's just a money grab on emotions. Only us as a population can make a difference and follow through to get results.

This promotion must be working.. the July 3-6 shows at my local Cinemark are mostly sold out. Granted, they put it on a small screen with ~40 seats.

Also interesting is that Tuesday shows are normally $6.50 at Cinemark, but they've apparently disabled that promotion for Tues, July 4.

The promotion has been open since May, as the film is a small release. The film was delayed repeatedly as it struggled to keep backing and partners, amidst a number of the primary producer and his organization's activity being discredited.

Granted, I haven't seen this, but I'd be surprised if it made any more difference than all the previous media on the subject (such as the To Catch a Predator series). It's not like we don't want to fix these problems, but the one-percenters have most of us too busy just struggling to survive to contribute much. Those few that do what this movie supposedly demonstrates are more often vigilantes motivated by hate and a desire to be a "hero" than actual concern. Negative emotions are a powerful motivator & are far too often used to manipulate and distract than to accomplish things that are truly for the good of all.

Summary of what I gathered in about 2 to 3 minutes of Googling: the actor is a Q-anon nut, and the person he's portraying runs an anti-trafficking organization that seems to be sincere in its mission (again, note that I'm basing this on a few minutes of research) but has engaged in a few questionable, arguably harmful, practices.

Do these people really believe the "elites" are kidnapping and harvesting adrenochrome from kids? Is that in the movie?

Wow does this look bad from the preview.

Not like, bad compared to other movies, like, bad compared to watching a beloved family pet perish in a house fire.

Quick google search will reveal a ton of articles where news stations tested all the surfaces in theaters and the floor is easily the cleanest surface. You are literally sitting in other people's shit
Also 78% of people who get stink eye had visited a movie theater in the 5 days prior. It's time for theaters to die
99.7% of all people who develop lung cancer have eaten a pickle in their lifetime. Is it time to ban the death pickles? Correlation =/= causation.

Interesting how quickly after I made this comment that the "Controversies" section of the Wikipedia page that I linked to disappeared. Here's a link [wikipedia.org] to a comparison of the version I linked to and the current version so people can actually see what I was referring to.

EDIT: And now someone who doesn't like facts has had my original comment deleted. Amusing that it can still be seen in the witless reply it received immediately after. For those who think the truth is being hidden from them, they sure do put in a lot of effort hiding anything that contradicts their preferred "reality."

Here's the original article [wikipedia.org] I linked to for anyone who ACTUALLY cares about "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth."
