you dont have to tap/bump for string advance - every time you let go of the trigger the string advances about 1/4"

there is also a hart 20v 12" hybrid (battery or electric) trimmer/edger that is on sale for $68. usually $108

Perhaps I got a dud, but .. this is trash. Got one and it lasted maybe three uses before it just wouldn't charge anymore. Tried a different battery and it just stuttered, then died. I'd avoid and keep an eye out for an EGO brand trimmer deal.

I've got this, for a normal size residential yard with trimming just the edges of a lawn this will do the job for trimming grass.

I like that it's light weight and has a button to feed more vs the bump style.

Can't say it enough if you're doing grass this is perfectly fine, but if you're going to cut high brush or anything look elsewhere.

What?! There is a button to feed the string?! I thought it just slowly auto fed? I'm doing it wrong then haha

I have this one. I got it 4 weeks ago. I'm about to go use it this morning. It's a lightweight and perfectly fine unit that does a great job on GRASS. Do not use this on heavy brush. Pretty good stuff for $49.

Must have gotten a dud. I've used mine several times and it's fine. Hart tools are made by the same company that makes Milwaukee and Ryobi. They make pretty good products. If it's under warranty get them to send you a replacement.

on all my battery operated trimmers i take the string platform cover off. this allows a longer string and to get closer/in between small spaces better.

oh yes, you will love the button vs. tap/bumping it on the ground. less wear and tear on the string-spool-cover.

also, this is the way worx trimmers work too.

I have the hybrid one and it's really nice. There's an interlock so you can't have the battery and it plugged in. It come with small string but I used that and put a .8 on the spool. It's definitely powerful and can handle what my gas did once I put the bigger string on. The only downside is the handle broke during the first use. I'm sure I can warranty claim it but haven't. Also it's ok at edging but not the best.

ah good info to know as most electric trimmer cant handle .80 string and it will jam and/or weld together on the spool.

I think there is something wrong with harts battery. I bought a blower that uses this battery it would work for 5 minutes before not working anymore. The battery also felt really hot when I touched it after usage. I own the hyper tough brand trimmer it works great and is cheaper than the hart. Just buy that.

Same. I have 4 4ah batteries, bought months apart. All last max 4mins in the small mower &
are uncomfortably hot. When it's much cooler outside they last maybe 8mins.
