Huh? Just looked at ingredients and sugar or any sugar derivative isn't even on the ingredients list.

Wait, honey is not sugar. Yes, it's a sweetener, but it is not sugar. If he wrote, "too much honey per serving" I'd agree with you; but he didn't. He wrote "too much sugar per serving" and there is 0.0000 grams of sugar per serving in this product. His comment is either wrong or misleading; take your pick…

10g added sugar per serving, 11g total on the label.

Not sure whether 10g/11g per 280 calories are too much, but one search result is "The Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2020-2025 advise that all Americans 2 years and older limit added sugars in the diet to less than 10% of total calories. For a 2,000 calorie/day diet, that translates into 200 calories or 50 grams of sugar daily"

=> suggest <= 7g sugar per 280 calories

Okay, I see "added sugar" is on the nutritional list, but, again, this is a bit misleading. There is actually no actual sugar or corn syrup in the ingredients list. The added sugar reported in the calories/nutritional info is coming from the honey.

When people read the comment "too much sugar," they think there is literally sugar or corn syrup added to sweeten the flavor. It may not be deliberately misleading, but it is misleading. Honey is the second ingredient in this granola and that is where the "added sugar" is coming from on the nutrition label.

Finally - honey is processed by the body differently than sugar. I had to look it up as I didn't know the specific differences off the top of my head, but here you go:

Honey has a lower GI value than sugar, meaning that it doesn't raise blood sugar levels as quickly. It's also sweeter than sugar, so you may need less of it, but it does have slightly more calories per teaspoon, so I always keep a close eye on portion sizes.

Honey's advantages over sugar include a slightly lower glycemic index (i.e. it doesn't affect your blood-sugar levels as much)," Dr. Dixon says. "It also contains more vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, such as calcium, potassium, vitamin C, zinc, phenolic acids, and flavonoids."

Yes, both makes sense, honey is better than sugar on blood sugar. While the first comments refer to the daily sugar amount that suggested by some organizations (also the paragraph I quoted) (36g for adult men and 24g for adult women).

Have you ever bought raw honey? Has anyone ever said there's too much sugar in your raw honey? Yeah, didn't think so.

I just looked up quaker simply granola and it's 17g of sugar. I do like it and it was two for one boxes today at Safeway. I use it to top of yogurt mostly so not full strength.
