Yes, in the old days. But not any more. Instead, just buy a $1 BYOP sim for another device and activate/transfer balance. I have done it perhaps 20 times.

if you move your line to one of those BYOP SIM's can you move the SIM to multiple phones or if you want to go to a different phone 6 months down the road you need another BYOP SIM?

You might be able to reuse the same BYOP sim, but why risk things getting screwed up just to save one dollar??? Someone else may have a more definitive answer, but I would spend the extra buck in order to move the service to a different phone.

Purchased same phones a few weeks back for elder parent. Having a tough time migrating existing TracFone # to one of the phones. Keeps saying error and to try again at a later time. Did chat same issue

Yeah, this is an ongoing issue. It's no longer worth it. I am slowly moving all my lines out of TF as they get close to expiring.

It was great for a long long time, but not anymore. And this is just to migrate the service to existing line which was easy and simple all those years.

You do not need to wait for your current plan to expire. If you are activating one of these phones by transferring your existing TF phone number, the time and minutes from these plans will be appended to what remains from your existing plan. In other words, you can do it now and your service will be good until 8/22/24. Take screenshots of your existing balances and plan before doing this just in case you encounter a problem.

Is Tracfone CDMA? So that sim cant be used in just ANY unlocked device
