Google it. I have worked in the veterinary industry for years and have personally seen pets suffer from Hartz products.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic. People can do their own research on it. It is well known in the veterinary community how dangerous Hartz flea products are. In the vet clinics I have worked at, we have always warned owners to stay away from these products.

People introducing extreme claims are the ones required to provide evidence, not the other way around.

This product, or any flea and tick shampoo, is not what you want if you simply want to bathe your dog. They won't get them as clean or lather as well. . Hartz sells a regular oatmeal shampoo that I have used and like. Amazon gets $9 or $10 for it, but it's about $3.50 at Walmart. Same size bottle as this one.

Edit: I just saw that Amazon now has it for $5.98 so that's at least lower than it was.

Personally I don't suggest using this or these types of flea killer products, they have very bad reputations that you can easily use Google to read about. Just buy the largest liquid dog or cat version (for example the up to 139lb dog box has 8 pouches each with 4ml=32ml for $90 and the 5lb to 20lb has 8 pouches of .60ml each= 4.8ml for $90 so you get so much more of the exact same product going with the big dog pouched version) then use a 1cc/1ml syringe to dose each smaller dog. You can see the other size dog boxes and dose based off that box pouch size. Then pour the rest of the left over pouch into a 2 oz boston glass or small Mason jar and store for the next use. I'm sure there are websites/YouTube videos on this for more info and details. Been doing it this way for years with our whole families many cats and dogs. Just be aware that you cannot use dog flea treatment for cats and vice versa. It will say not safe for cats on the box. There is one exception, think it's called advantage but I think there is an advantage plus version that is dogs only. Not 100% sure could be reversed as it's been a few years since I used that stuff but it was the best imo. I had to get a big amount for discount and needed something quick so just got the dog only stuff at Costco last time and still have some. Will definitely go back to the version that you can use on both cat & dog next time.

I was trying to be nice and warn pet owners before buying this because I have seen first hand the dangers. Anyone can google it and do their own research. If you don't believe me, feel free to use it on your pets.

Was your reply helpful? Not the least bit, which means that comment was sarcasm. But since you care so much about animals that you refuse to link to any sources that might prevent their harm, I decided to try and figure out if you're lying or just lazy. There was 1 link posted by someone kind enough to make an effort but I had never heard of considertheconsumer[dot]com and didn't find it trustworthy(broken English in places & cited a $4,400 small claims court action).

I googled hartz flea and tick shampoo and you're wrong that it's easy to find. There was a video or 2 from TikTok and YT on the first couple pages, but I had to get to page 3 or 4 to find something I find reputable enough to justify your dire advisory. But at least it's there.

The DC attorney general put out an advisory in 2022 warning about Tetrachlorvinphos (TCVP), a chemical commonly used in flea and tick products for animals. The chemical can cause death in some animals and organ problems. But the advisory is actually warning about young children getting the residue on their hands then ingesting it. It says that their developing brains are at the greatest risk of adverse affects. (https://oag.dc.gov/release/consum...ention-pet)

Here are the products with TCVP:

Hartz Ultra Guard Flea and Tick Collar
Pet Armor Flea & Tick Collar
Zodiac Flea and Tick Collar
Adams Plus Flea & Tick Collar
Hartz Ultra Guard Flea and Tick Powder
Hartz Ultra Guard Flea and Tick Spray
Bio Spot Flea and Tick Collar
Seresto Flea and Tick Collar

If you make sensational life-or-death claims about an obscure topic and refuse to provide any support besides "do your own research." You can and should get called out for that. Think about it: should the 1 person spreading the claim take 10 minutes to verify and cite supporting data…or should every person that reads the claim have to spend those 10 minutes looking to see if it's BS? Huge waste of time.

And don't forget to spay and neuter your pets folks.
