I installed this at my parents place... Works pretty well and battery life actually lasted from January until approx last week. Definitely lasted the full 120 days... Image quality is just about as good as my 2k Eufy 8200 hardwired doorbell camera.

16 gb for a doorbell camera
In my opinion that is enough for the general public
Unless you want this installed on a business with lots of traffic

I would not buy surveillance equipment from Eufy again. They have had a less than stellar track record with respect to privacy and poor responses to troublesome situations...ability for random people to view your home feed and such. The feed using their proprietary connection is pretty laggy. It's impossible to have a conversation with someone at your door as a result. The homebase is trash too. It connects to all your wireless devices via some proprietary 900 MHz link iirc. This means that you can't connect devices to it over a mesh network. All of your devices need to be in range of the homebase. If you don't have it hard wired, it connects to your router via 2.4 GHz and causes connectivity issues over 2.4 with the rest of your network. It becomes especially problematic if you have a mesh system. I would just avoid it altogether to be honest. I regret buying into it.

Also, don't buy into the 2K resolution or whatever any company claims the resolution to be. I'm sure the sensor is a 2K resolution sensor which can vary considerably in itself, but the result you get is an incredibly highly compressed grainy picture that won't help you identify much of anything with any specificity. Wanna see that license plate of the car pulling up? Nope.

If you use your own storage instead of the homebase storage (not that you need to), you drop down to 1080p mode too.

I will say that these cheap wireless doorbell cams are useful for notifying you when someone comes by, drops off a package, etc. I just wouldn't expect more than that and personally would go with a different company just becomes of eufy's poor track record in this regard. Just my 2c.

Which outdoor cameras can I use with this? Any recommendations? Wired/unwired are both fine

Can you keep the home based plugged in or does it need to be unplugged for function?

Exactly! With 16 GB memory at least 300-400 30 seconds clips can be stored

Reolink is where it's at when it comes to affordable and reliable video IP doorbell cameras, with upgradeable storage and no subscription, in 2023.

Have they improved their motion detection and connectivity? The current version I have misses detection for a lot of deliveries, e.g. Amazon, UPS, etc.
