$600 for an upgrade to a S22 ultra and I'm seeing td's? What am I missing? Is there a better price I should be waiting on? Or is the phone garbage?

This is a good deal. The only reason I'm not utilizing it for the S22 Ultra is because it's the 128GB version. Same for the S21FE.

Personally, I'm really disappointed by the removal of the micro SD slots. Just a money grab that doesn't serve the customer.

This may be a lukewarm deal to some, but for those looking for flagships at a budget AND for those who are not on Magenta Max or GoPlus5G plans, deals on devices have appeared to dry up. People that are TDing maybe don't get the current state of T-Mobile device deals...

I genuinely have no idea why anyone would go for the S22+ over the Ultra at the same price but I honestly don't know too much about the Galaxy line.

I think this is a good deal if you are on tmobile and want to buy s23u:
You can buy this s22u for $550 and trade in for 750 and pay another 250 to get s23u 256gb unlocked, with total of $800 which seems not bad.

Any idea why? They are supposed to charge tax on the purchase price. I purchased a Pixel 7 pro and I have the same issue. It seems they charged me tax for $899 instead of $499

Depends on the state. In CA (for example) the discount is considered a credit against the retail price since it's bundled with a service plan (the account requirement). It's not actually being sold for the lower price.

Prepaid phones are *usually* sold unbundled (without service) so for those you pay tax on the actual sales price.

Rules can differ from state-to-state though, so it really depends on which state you bought it in.
