327 vs 282, they have a lot in common and weird tradeoffs. I really like the sanding drums and fiberglass cutoff wheels, so I guess I'd lean toward the 327 piece set.
The 327 has 131 adhesive back sanding discs accounting for a lot of the number.
Also a lot more sanding bands.
The 282 has more heavy duty cutoff disks; great if you like those more.
What's the difference in the green vs brown polishing compound?
327 vs 282
12 vs 10 diamond bits
9 vs 6 drill bits
0 vs 3 high speed cutters
10 vs 10 stone grinding bits
0 vs 1 cloth polishing wheel
1 vs 1 diamond wheel
0 vs 2 silicon carbide grinding wheels
2 vs 0 rubber grinding wheels
6 vs 0 robber polishing bits
16 vs 6 fiberglass cutoff wheels
0 vs 30 heavy duty cutoff wheels
36 vs 80 cut off wheels
7 vs 9 brushes
9 vs 7 felt polishers
18 vs 12 grinding wheels
131 vs 60 sanding disks
2 vs 0 small flapwheel sander
2 vs 1 large flapwheel sander
52 vs 32 sanding bands (327 has a third size the 282 doesn't have, I think)
4 vs 2 sanding drum mandrels (including additional size, I think)
3 vs 3 collets
2 vs 2 cutting wheel mandrels
1 vs 1 felt mandrel
1 green vs 1 brown tub polishing compound
1 vs 1 dressing stone
1 vs 1 wrench
Once the drill's rotary shaft bends, you'll start noticing that your drill "wobbles", which gets annoying fast, and causes your drill holes to end up non-circular, and generally bigger than intended.
If you have a throwaway drill that you're no longer using for its intended purpose, have at it.

Rotary tools generally have 10x the rotation speed as a drill. These bits are designed for the rotation and orientation of rotary tools. I would not recommend using them with a drill.

To elaborate, these bits will fit just about any conventional drill. The real issue, is that most (all?) drills aren't designed for later stress. They're reinforced for linear stress only (eg. drilling "down" into something). As such, it's not too difficult to introduce a slight bend to the drill shaft trying to use a drill like a rotary tool (which is designed to handle lateral stresses (pushing it sideways)).
