FYI these deals are usually for non-discounted plans: Magenta, Max, Go5g, Go5g+ (one and simple choice might qualify). Spring customers, military, 55+, metro pcs may not qualify. Either way it's best to confirm if you qualify before adding the line, otherwise it's YMMV if you add it on your own without checking.

Sometimes these deals require going in store and limited time (24-72hrs usually). It's completely free (taxes & fees not included). If you have a tax inclusive plan like magenta, then everything is free (you might still have tax/fees of 10 cents or so... pointing it out since it triggers some people). Free as long as you don't close it. If you removed any lines in past 90 days they must be added before you can add another lime that would be free. If you cancel any lines within 12 months from adding the free line you lose the discount.

You CAN port a number in while adding the free line or later down the road. If you port the number OUT later, you might lose the free line. You can remove lines after 12 months and it won't affect the free line. Generally, you can't get the free line & a free phone promotion, extremely YMMV since it works for a few people, but I wouldn't count on it.

Know the terms and conditions before making a mistake and ranting.

Edit* Terms & Conditions? 'Customers must have the "2023BYOD_P1" segment on their account in Atlas or Tapestry to qualify. Customers with no segment or "2023BYOD_P1 - Inactive" are not eligible. BYOD or FRP purchases only (EIP not eligible for life of line). Device Connection Charge is required.'

These never work with 2 lines for $70 55+ plan. You need to convert to a much more expensive plan to get the "free" one.

As a Tmobile "ONE Plan All in Promo" I've got 2 lines, for which I pay $80. I can never get them to give me a free line add on unless I change my plan to something that's going to cost me more.

Had the same problem, never got one of my free lines back
Apparently my account wasn't eligible for the free line in back in Dec after all. But before knowing that I added the line and they said I was eligible and that it would be all good within 2-3 billing cycles. Well each month for the past 6 they've had to manually credit the line because whoever added it did so under the BOGO deal they were having and so now it keeps dropping off and it's messy. I qualify for today's free line but I would really like to cancel the Dec one. Afraid I'll lose this deal because of it. Maybe I'll just keep battling with them for another 12 months lol until this free line is permanent.

I had 6 lines at one time paying $96 a month on the magenta plan as a result of the BYOD deals. At the time it was great. However, I finally cancelled my lines due to the terrible service. It was heartbreaking because the deal was amazing. I had an emergency situation once where there was no T-Mobile reception at the airport and everyone around me with Verizon and AT&T was fine. That was my breaking point. Now I am begrudgingly back to Verizon.
Every time I hear these stories, it's always someone with an iPhone 6S on T-Mobile in 2021 or beyond. Their 2020+ era coverage using a new phone with all the applicable new T-Mo bands they operate in is as good as our Verizon phone. Usually, the T-Mo service is faster too.

Is it possible to port a Vonage phone number to a T-Mobile line? I have a legacy line from a home POTS service from a while back. I don't want to lose the phone number but have gotten tired for paying Vonage for something I barely use.
port it to a google voice number

Based on my previous experience, first responder/military plans do not qualify for any free lines promo, I doubt I am qualified for this round.
I chatted. my military magenta not qualified.

disagree. i have a 13 pro max and switched from vzw to tmo. tmo service is noticeably worse, i suspect this has more to do with the frequency.... i think vzw has a longer band so penetrates buildings and goes longer distances. tmo is shorter so isnt as good in that respect, but the 5GUC speedtests at like 700mbps... so theres that.

at $35/month i cant complain, but vzw was only costing me $42.... id rather go back if i could

Debating about trying this. Already have a free line that we don't use (but will in a few years). Really don't want anything to get jacked up for a line I really don't plan on needing at all. (No more kids)

Well I pulled the trigger with this rep on the T-Mobile app. Paid the $35 for the sim and he credited the account back. Of course he and his manager assured me countless times that it is a free line and the account is eligible.

I am definitely worried since it's T-Mobile reps and mostly are clueless but I guess it's done and I'll see over the next two billing cycles.

So currently on the One Plan with insider discount, one plus promo, kickback on 9 lines, autopay, etc.

I'll have to work to get kickback and the One Plus Promo on the new 10th line assume it actually is free

Currently on a 2-line all-in plan for $100 including tax, and I have been with T-Mobile for close to 20 years. The customer service rep I spoke with, first lied saying there is no such promotion then I quoted the Reddit post then she "magically" found the promotion then lied again saying that the promotion is only for business lines. I'm kind of pissed now. I might take my account to some other carrier when I really need a third new line which will be during Christmas time.

I came from AT&T. AT&T service was better, no question there. There are times my phone DOES NOT ring or show I have a missed call, and all of the sudden I have a voicemail. When I asked the caller about it they said it want right to voicemail. Happens on my partners phone as well. It is not do not disturb or anything like that either. 14 pro and 14 pro max.

Also I have hit plenty of dead spots that were not dead spots with AT&T. But….since I pay less I deal with the issues. Some people wouldn't.

I have KS and UoU(free). I was told I'd have to convert all my lines to one plan first before getting the free AAL. That doesn't make sense since I'd lose UoU.

You didn't run into this problem?
I didn't. It was a HUGE hassle where the rep wanted me to find the right SIM to process the order, and I finally got her to just mail me a new SIM card.

As with other posters - am definitely wary and want to see exactly what is going to happen, but the chance for a new free line is worth it. ($35 KS and 1 Line-on-us (Free).

Rolled the dice on this one. Finally qualified for a free line. On an old SC plan paying $150 for 6 lines. Well 7 now.

As far as I know, that's still the case. If your mom doesn't really use her phone (older, only uses it to call/text & light data usage) then she probably wouldn't even notice it being Google Voice. Transfer her to google voice and attach it to a phone number, set it up one time and forget about it til you need to do it again.
Only time it doesn't work out is if your mom happens to use iphone, since GoogleVoice will have a green text box.
Yeah, my plan is to mail her the existing SIM from my account that will eventually have her number. Once my sister ports her out to Google voice, we'll have Google voice forward the calls to this SIM; thus immediately, any incoming calls to her number should seamlessly go to the new SIM. The hassle will be timing this when she can be at the T-mobile store, so they can help do the SIM swap for her.

At that point, I can take my time to port her number back in; but she won't have to change SIM's as her number will be directly on her phone as intended The main concern is until then, when she calls her friends, they will see a different number on their caller ID; and the elderly can and should be cautious about answering calls from strange numbers.
