Sometimes these deals require going in store and limited time (24-72hrs usually). It's completely free (taxes & fees not included). If you have a tax inclusive plan like magenta, then everything is free (you might still have tax/fees of 10 cents or so... pointing it out since it triggers some people). Free as long as you don't close it. If you removed any lines in past 90 days they must be added before you can add another lime that would be free. If you cancel any lines within 12 months from adding the free line you lose the discount.
You CAN port a number in while adding the free line or later down the road. If you port the number OUT later, you might lose the free line. You can remove lines after 12 months and it won't affect the free line. Generally, you can't get the free line & a free phone promotion, extremely YMMV since it works for a few people, but I wouldn't count on it.
Know the terms and conditions before making a mistake and ranting.
Edit* Terms & Conditions? 'Customers must have the "2023BYOD_P1" segment on their account in Atlas or Tapestry to qualify. Customers with no segment or "2023BYOD_P1 - Inactive" are not eligible. BYOD or FRP purchases only (EIP not eligible for life of line). Device Connection Charge is required.'

Just make sure you go into the privacy settings and turn everything to "opt out".
Then have T-Mobile disable the biometrics tool. This is why they scan your drivers license which gives them your photo. They can also require an additional separate photograph to confirm that your drivers license is valid. Don't consent to this.

Byod
$35 one time charge
I am super glad you reached out about this limited time offer we are doing on preselected accounts. Thanks for taking the time to pass your account information to us here.
On reviewing your account, I see it does qualify for the 2023 BYOD P1 promotion! 🎉
Congratulations!
From here, if you want to activate it, there are some important details to know.
1. The line cannot be used for any financing, ever. Any device purchases done through the line must be for full retail price, meaning paid outright.
2. There is a device connection charge to activate the line of $35 that cannot be waived.
3. This line can only be added through a representative. You cannot add the line through our website or app and get the promotion.
If you would like to move forward let me know.

Like with all our add a line offers, if you cancel service on any of your lines within 12 months, change line types, or migrate to an ineligible plan, you'll lose the monthly bill credit for the free line.
Additionally, if you cancel service on the line receiving the bill credits, you will lose the monthly bill credit for the line.
Please don't contact me how much I am paying. Not gonna to say it.
I am definitely worried since it's T-Mobile reps and mostly are clueless but I guess it's done and I'll see over the next two billing cycles.
So currently on the One Plan with insider discount, one plus promo, kickback on 9 lines, autopay, etc.
I'll have to work to get kickback and the One Plus Promo on the new 10th line assume it actually is free

At that point, I can take my time to port her number back in; but she won't have to change SIM's as her number will be directly on her phone as intended The main concern is until then, when she calls her friends, they will see a different number on their caller ID; and the elderly can and should be cautious about answering calls from strange numbers.
