Keep in mind that this is characterized as a temporary travel SIM for foreign visitors.

I'm fairly certain a person's right to port out their number is protected by the FCC. https://www.fcc.gov/general/wirel...ility-wlnp

E-sim companies like Airalo and Alosim have been offering 3 gb for $11 for a long time now, and sometimes offer credits at a steeply discounted rate. I got 5G service on AT&T using Alosim on a recent trip using credits that I scooped up at 50+% off, so I ended up paying ~$5 for 3 gb. I've also used Airalo in the past without any issue, although it's been a while. This deal is obviously cheaper but if you're on the fence about the company or service, there are alternatives that work great and aren't much more expensive.

Edit: I should add that those companies don't offer a number or calling method, so I just use my Google Voice number on data to make calls. Might be another thing to consider for some.

What are the pro and con of using this service in USA? Seem really cheap. I am paying $10 per month in unrealmobile for 2gb/month.

Can I pay now and start using it couple months later?

You're on an amazing plan - Unreal rebranded recently and that plan is no longer offered according to a chat agent.

Technically, yes.

$15/month for 5gb (soft cap) via Mint Mobile with an established and well regarded brand feels like a better deal. Free hotspot. Free calling to Mexico and Canada (and a few other countries like the UK). Dirt cheap international calling ($0.01/minute to most countries). Free calling from abroad via Wi-Fi calling.

Join with a referral and it's even less ($13.75/month).

I don't work for Mint. Just using them for our family service for years.

Can I pay monthly?

If not, how many months do I have to pay upfront for that $15/mo rate?

Three months up front. So $45 for 3 months.

After this, it's a year commitment. $180 for the year.

You CAN pay monthly (setup a "family" plan", but the commitment will be a year.

Can you explain the one year commitment, but paid monthly - do I sign a contract?

Yeah, it's only possible under a "family plan" which is where you group two or more lines. Each line will be its own separate account, with its own account holder, etc. my wife and I have our own accounts and lines. We grouped them as a family plan.

Under the family plan, a benefit is that you can pay the year commitment monthly.

I'm our case, we pay $20/month for 15GB. Often it's less because we get referral discounts when we refer people to mint.

I personally will not do business direct with T-Mobile, because they have been compromised numerous times and do not protect customer identity information such as social security number, address, etc.
I will use an mvno, however, and I would be very interested in porting my special use cell phone over to them to have three gigs per month for $10, Plus tax.
Actually for the trial service you don't have to give your SS# or CC #s, just name/address/email. You can make it up too if you want. If you're rooted, and can mask or randomize your IMEI, you can continue the free trial for xx amount of time. In the middle of my 3rd trial right now

How do you verify your identity as a non-HK resident/citizen? I got an email saying service will be deactivated if I don't register with my real name. Only forms of valid ID are HK related IDs.
