Keep in mind that this is characterized as a temporary travel SIM for foreign visitors.
I'm fairly certain a person's right to port out their number is protected by the FCC. https://www.fcc.gov/general/wirel...ility-wlnp
E-sim companies like Airalo and Alosim have been offering 3 gb for $11 for a long time now, and sometimes offer credits at a steeply discounted rate. I got 5G service on AT&T using Alosim on a recent trip using credits that I scooped up at 50+% off, so I ended up paying ~$5 for 3 gb. I've also used Airalo in the past without any issue, although it's been a while. This deal is obviously cheaper but if you're on the fence about the company or service, there are alternatives that work great and aren't much more expensive.

Edit: I should add that those companies don't offer a number or calling method, so I just use my Google Voice number on data to make calls. Might be another thing to consider for some.

How do you verify your identity as a non-HK resident/citizen? I got an email saying service will be deactivated if I don't register with my real name. Only forms of valid ID are HK related IDs.
For the 3 HK SIM?

A passport, but only if you intend to use it in HK is my understanding.

Nope! this is how your identity ends up in places where it shouldn't be. Just to save $100 or so a year? Nope. I'm good. I'll have to cancel it.

Can I port an existing US number to 3HK? I checked their faq section but could not find this.

No, potentially a HK number but definitely not a US number.

Looks like they don't have support for it yet but the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G has eSim Capability as well as physical sim just as a heads up.

If T-Mobile can activate eSIM on that device, so can AIRHUB.

So, the list is probably outdated. I'd give it a shot.

TextNow uses their app to make calls over a data connection; this plan makes conventional VoLTE calls.

You'd need to purchase a plan supporting those countries as this plan is only advertised to support the US.
Thanks, that is good to know.

Personally, I'd (on wifi) download a bunch of Spotify playlists, keep Spotify in offline mode and then keep it attached to the car. Just for maps. We should all have old smartphones we can repurpose by now. Right moto & LG users? 😉
