I have this gimbal and use it for general video recording on trips. I've never had an issue but if you are talking about holding it up while going 40 mph on a boat then possibly not. Your phone would be like a sail and the motors might struggle to keep it balanced with that much force on it.

i would say not. for those applications, GoPro is way better.

Okay... The reviews seem to be mixed but nowadays most companies buy reviews so it's hard to go by those.
I just don't want to lose my phone while recording in such places.

I would suggest the Hohem iSteady M6. It does well with larger heavier phones like my Samsung sg23 Ultra. Although Amazon usually lists it for around $150, it is knocked down to a sale price around $140 often, which is noted if you follow the vendor on Amazon. In addition, they occasionally have a stackable $30 -$35 coupon which knocked it down to $111 when I purchased it in April. Yes, its more money, but the software for the DJ models apparently do not play well with Android phones, as well cannot accommodate the weight of heavier phones.

Just get a refurb DJI Pocket 2 instead... the OM is unwieldy and most people will rarely use it.
