Is this thing pretty compatible with the Android operating system? I'd like to have something like this but wonder if it will jive with my phone, Pixel 5a 5G?

I used mine with an android phone and it was fine. I imagine it'll work well with your pixel.

I had one for a week and it was neat - but I have to say that a smartphone on an Osmo gimbal will be better for 90% of users. One of my gripes was the literally postage-stamp sized screen and clunky controls. For those 10% who want a dedicated tool, it's still a great little camera for well lit shots.

I think the exact opposite, I switched from a gimbal to a pocket, because I appreciated that the design of the OSMO is to make it easy as possible to record

I'm looking for something simple that I could carry around at conferences to put together a video when I get back. I don't really like the idea of my phone hanging on a stick, but I feel like both sides have good arguments. I'm not a professional by any means and I don't have an iPhone. Any recommendations?
