I bought a legion pre-built in 2020 right when the pandemic hit. It was my first PC purchase so I didn't know what to look out for but I knew lenovo as a good brand. It was a 3070, i9 - 11900k for like 2500. Now that I have rebuilt that legion pc, and moved parts and built my own PC with the parts from it, because I wanted to upgrade not because of issues. This is a steal and their PC was built right, cable management was awesome, OEM parts were great. Heck, 'm still using the AIO it came with along with all the fans. Great prebuilt, I always recommend legion for prebuilt to people looking to purchase a PC for the first time.

1. You didn't include every component in your part picker, yet are comparing the cost of an incomplete list to the full computer with OS.
2. Time is money. I'd rather buy this computer than search out the parts, possibly have to go to B&M for some, wait for individual components to arrive (hopefully safely) and assemble everything - to save maybe $150, if I'm lucky.
3. You seem to be viewing this site under a rosy retrospection lens. It both better and worse than it was 15+ years ago; not simply worse.

How many RAM slots?
The product page says:

Fast DDR5 memory with room to expand
The Legion Tower 5 Gen 8 gaming PC is outfitted with top-of-the-line 5600MHz DDR5, faster than earlier RAM modules and perfect for everything from hardcore game action to everyday multitasking. Play, stream, record, and more—all at once. Plus, there are four RAM slots for easy expansion. Order yours with the maximum 32GB or wait and add more when competition demands.

Awfully pragmatic of them... I guess people had enough with non-expandable and proprietary parts. (Ahem, "Apple"...)
--------------------

Looks like a nice config. I spent more over the past couple of months to put my mITX rig together with pretty similar specs. This even has a 4070 Ti where I only have the regular 4070. Quite nice.

You guys are awesome for quick replies. How strongly should the processor i5 vs i7 be considered when I'm looking at this price point? I was thinking I needed to go with i7 or ryzen 7 paired with 3060 and try to find the best deal on something like that.

Sorry to deter the thread from the posted deal.

pcpartpicker = $1454

this is without a case + fan cooling
windows
keyboard + mouse

Thought this was a good deal till I put stuff into pcpartpicker, and yes I chose stuff that was 2nd or 3rd cheapest, am i missing something why this is getting upvoted to frontpage?

I am not trying to poopoo this deal, i actually want to buy it, also taht 8% cb is good as well, and yes I can build pc myself, been doing that since 98, so not worried about the few hours of assembly/windows and driver installations
You can definitely build this for around the same price, even less if you have a MC near you.

This is for those who can't or don't want to build. IRS not a slick deal. But it's a decent deal.

Just bought it. Came out to 1656 after tax. That's with the 5% discount for medical professionals and before the 8% cash back.

ugh what, ive been on slickdeals since like 2001, this is not a true frontpage deal

frontpage deals are actually real "slickdeals" this is not slick since ppl have the ability to build it for cheaper

argue all you want, this is not worthy of front page imo since you can build it for cheaper

and pcpartpicker is online, not a microcenter, the parts all were from amazon/bh/newegg all very reputable vendors

imo this site changed, back in the day I could come online and find deals that literally paid me - yes paid me over the purchase price, those days are long gone.

Definitely gotten laptop/ and pc components off frontpage before that are genuine deals, this doesnt deserve all the upvotes to make frontpage imo since the entire point of this site is to save money, and its clear you can get this for cheaper
It hit frontpage because it's a deal from a partner site and SD will get paid for any purchases made.

Most of the really good deals these days are gone before they can hit front page.

Thanks, this makes sense, frontpage slickdeals were always way to good to be true, Either the stock sells out or the vendor finds out of some weird price typo or coupon stacking/additional rebate that gets fixed right away.

Slickdeals frontpage deals imo, should never have this scenario - you can get this for cheaper over here, vs what is linked

Defeats the entire purpose of saving $ - the reason ppl use this site.

you missed my first post, i already stated it doesnt have case, fans, keyboard, mouse, windows, and dont care about the few hours of install and driver updates
I didn't miss that point, but am saying that you need to factor in the costs of time, extra components rather than write them off in passing.

sounds like you have never built a pc before and dont understand the deal for prebuilts...

...also 15 years ago makes it 2008, you dont even realize how slickdeals was started like pre 2001
You're making some logical leaps and false assertions. I've built PCs and know Slickdeals began in 1999. But I'm not here to argue, but am pointing out that your view of a slickdeal doesn't not represent the entire community, so no need to gatekeep or be confused/combative when others view something you do not as a slickdeal.

Does not have built in wifi at least I don't see that it does. Otherwise it looks good. Not sure if the motherboard is proprietary or not.

WiFi Wireless LAN Adapters
Wi-Fi 6E 2x2 AX & Bluetooth® 5.1 or above

Not sure about the new models but motherboard was micro atx in the last model. You couldn't enable XMP in bios for the ram but maybe they fixed that?
