My wife is a hardware engineer in the SSD industry. She estimates prices down another 15-30% within 3-4 months based on current projections.

Edit: she got mad at me when I told her I posted this. The things do for my beloved SD <3

P31 is probably the most efficient SSD on the market. It can make your laptop last longer in battery mode when compare to other SSD especially PICe Gen 4 ones. On top of that, it also has top performance in terms of PCIe 3 spec.

Even if you are maxed out at Gen 3 on your motherboard, seems more prudent to get the Gen 4 Samsung 980 Pro for $6 more.

Meh price? Last best deal on this SSD was $108 so you're saving $14. This is a no brainer for laptop users.

If you have a desktop (and you need the speed) or a PS4, of course you're not going to be looking for a Gen 3. A downside to Gen 4 is that it runs extremely hot and you're going to need good airflow and a good heatsink to keep temperatures down. Laptops have restricted airflow and are going to overheat with a Gen 4, which is why the P31 is more than ideal.

Unless you think prices on this will become even cheaper, which is unlikely.

SSD prices are predicted to go back up by fall as SSD manufacturers get rid of their overstock.

Any links that support your claim?

Is it reasonable this flagship product will become $65.8 by the end of summer or even Black Friday, considering the cheapest Team Group SATA SSD is $62 right now and the QLC Intel 670p is $70?

All I could find was this article: https://www.tomshardware.com/news...-june-2023

All I have to say is that you succeeded in making me cancel my order. Let's hope you're right. Applause

EDIT: Darn it, Amazon declined my request to cancel the order. EEK!
UPDATE: Talked to customer support and he was able to cancel. Please

For those wondering why I cancelled, it is because I don't need a new SSD now and can wait.

SECOND UPDATE: The customer support representative lied to me that he will refund my order after I wait 48 hours. Received an email that my order shipped. Guess i will see what happens on Amazon Prime Day and make the decision whether to keep it or not. Mad

THIRD UPDATE:
It's arriving tomorrow and I don't even have Amazon prime. Guess the customer support representative misunderstood me... LMAO

Decided to bite. Hoping to be lucky and snag the Swift X deal next Tuesday for Prime Day, and this will be a perfect upgrade. Heard these come recommended for laptop upgrades, and hell, if prices continue to drop then I'll just get a second one. 4 TB of SSD sounds pretty good in a small laptop.

Great! I will definitely wait.

EDIT: Just received the drive today because the customer support person lied to me that he would cancel the order. Ended up receiving it much sooner instead... Don't want to return because I don't wanna lose my streak for never returning a product on Amazon. Mad

Same but it is astonishing that this prediction from 2022 came true: https://www.tomshardware.com/news...y-mid-2023

Although this may be a good product reviews of SK Hynix products say their warranty support is non existent.
