I've had these for years and I love them. You can still burn your hand if you hold something too long. Easy to wash also.

Ribbed to make the food happier?

I finally switched to silicone mitts, and they are better than the all-cloth ones we used to have, which were Pampered Chef IIRC (which does make good stuff -- the silicone spatula we have from them is pretty much perfect). The only thing I don't like about mine is that since there are two distinct layers (silicone and cloth), there's a little "play" between them that results in some instability with my grip on occasion.

I have another brand, same quality and don't hold too long either. I love the fact when I'm done I wash them off under kitchen sink while still wearing them. They get nice and greasy trying to pull the prongs off a rotisserie stuck in the meat.
