Now before we get the haters typing away, yes these bikes come with the microshift vs Shimano and yes you will prob have to do some tuning to the bike when you first build it. Also some might even say it's the woman's version but that it is literally just antiquated thinking since there is no difference in performance or parts just the dropped bar, which actually makes it easier to hope on and off the bike. Anyways, for the price and the parts that come with the bikes, even if you take it into a bike shop, its a killer deal. Obviously the real prize here is the Brava but it's small (recommended max height 5'3) but if youre short or for kids, it's a great price. I myself own the Brava and after I did some minor tuning after building it (very easily using youtube videos that show step by step directions) it rides great.

The new price for the small is 199.99 and July 4th gets you $20 off of that, so it's still 179.99.

I bought 3 of these hybrid bikes and none of them had a single Shimano component, none of them made it through shipping in perfect condition (one arrived with the rear forks sticking out of the box), none of them had brakes that didn't rub, and none of them had properly working microshift components. I returned all 3 at the same time, they all arrived back at the same time and were signed for by the same person, but only one was refunded, and it's been over 2 weeks since they arrived back to Giordano. They claim to be located in one of 3 places in northern NJ, within 30 minutes of where I live, and yet this was the result, to give you an idea of the poor quality packaging and blatant bait and switch on components. Also the free headlight and taillight set is from shipped from Harbor Freight. Just an FYI.

I ordered two of this Brava Hybrid Small last time. None of them have Shimano derailleur. They all shipped with cheap Microshift Mezzo, which is quite awkward to use. The up/down shift control is too easy to get stuck with the break component. You have to tighten them to the handle bar a lot more. In general I am not happy with the bikes, but it is too much of a pain to return.

If anyone has any doubts about the above comments, I recommend taking some time to read the earlier Giordana thread, especially towards the end: https://slickdeals.net/f/16656935-giordano-brava-hybrid-bike-210

The discussion starts out with generally high praise based upon the price and false website claims, but when people started actually receiving them, the truth was revealed about the true nature of the bike and the company.

I was lucky to get Shimano parts on my medium Brava. I did need to adjust the brakes and derailer. You'll need to tune it yourself or bring it to a local bike shop. I rolled the dice and was more than pleasantly surprised. I probably would also be happy with Microshift parts too.

This was my experience. I received MicroSHIFT parts on the Large. After some adjusting of the FD and brakes, it's working great. For $189 shipped to my door, I couldn't ask for a better bike.

Just be wary of the feedback...yes, some people received damaged bikes and that sucks, but others just didn't have proper expectations. This is Kent Bikes at the end of the day and as far as I know they are a reputable company.

Mine was just fine after some tuning. It does have microshift, and I have some spare Shimano quickfires that I didn't need to install, just some tape on the handlebar because the shifter does rotate easily due to a metal sleeve that is too smooth.

Same problem here with the Microshift, and the shifters rotating around the handlebards. Unfortunately in an attempt to tighten it in place, I went far enough that it broke and now I have an unusable front shifter and a rear shifter that rotates around the handle bar and frequently gets locked up with the brakes, so I have to move it back before I can shift again.

What kind of tape did you put around the handlebar? Does that keep your shifters in-place?

Just a strip of gorilla tape. Micro shift shifters are like $15 or so.
