As you're basically showing, none of that matters. The price is manipulated by the govt and big banking like most anything else is. Sad but true. I used to have a lot of money in physical gold. The only real pattern is how strange the patterns are. The smartest thing is def to diversify and have as little as possible invested in anything that can be manipulated. So the only real sure shot is property / land, and even that can be manipulated some, but I think it's the least corruptible.

So many agencies, so many predictions:

In its gold price projection on 24 April ABN-Amro Group estimated the precious metal to average at $1,900/oz in 2023 and rise to $1,950 by the end of 2024.

ANZ Research projected gold to be trading at around $2,100 by the close of 2023, accelerating to $2,200 by September 2024.

The World Bank's long-term gold price forecast as of April 2023 expected gold prices to finish 2023 at $1,900, falling to $1,750 by the end of 2024.

Meanwhile, algorithm-based price forecasting service WalletInvestor was bullish in their gold rate prediction for the next 5 years as of 16 May. The website saw the metal rising to $2,289 by May 2028. WalletInvestor's projected gold price to trade at $2,090 in one year's time.

FML? Stupid wife? Wow! I'll bet you have a terrible marriage.
Why does it matter if it's OOS if you weren't buying? It seems like you look for reasons to complain.

I said the same thing when the housing market shot up during Covid; boy was I wrong. Inflation is a real killer.

You can't meaningfully value gold in terms of dollars or any other currency becuase the value of these currencies will change daily and over time and all currencies not backed by gold (including the dollar) are subject to inflation . Rather gold is simply a preservation of purchasing power. So for example a $20 gold piece (approximately one ounce) in 1888 would allow you to buy one of the best custom tailored suits available at that time. Today that same amount of gold if sold will allow you to buy roughly that same product. So if you held an ounce of gold from 1888 to the present you would not have a "profit" of $1880 ($1900-$20) because $1900 today has the same purchasing power as $20 did in 1888. Rather you will simply have preserved the value of what you had in 1888 over all of that time regardless of what the US government does to diminish the value of the dollar during that time.

You forgot Bitcoin. That's the only sure thing. Property/land hugely inflated right now.
