As you're basically showing, none of that matters. The price is manipulated by the govt and big banking like most anything else is. Sad but true. I used to have a lot of money in physical gold. The only real pattern is how strange the patterns are. The smartest thing is def to diversify and have as little as possible invested in anything that can be manipulated. So the only real sure shot is property / land, and even that can be manipulated some, but I think it's the least corruptible.

So many agencies, so many predictions:

In its gold price projection on 24 April ABN-Amro Group estimated the precious metal to average at $1,900/oz in 2023 and rise to $1,950 by the end of 2024.

ANZ Research projected gold to be trading at around $2,100 by the close of 2023, accelerating to $2,200 by September 2024.

The World Bank's long-term gold price forecast as of April 2023 expected gold prices to finish 2023 at $1,900, falling to $1,750 by the end of 2024.

Meanwhile, algorithm-based price forecasting service WalletInvestor was bullish in their gold rate prediction for the next 5 years as of 16 May. The website saw the metal rising to $2,289 by May 2028. WalletInvestor's projected gold price to trade at $2,090 in one year's time.

Yeah that is the unfortunate part. Everything is doubled.

Pay, real estate, clothing, food, etc.
Yup, food and housing are definitely twice as much. I feel stupid for working hard to paying off my student loans early, and saving up for a down payment and savings cushion in case I was laid off. I wasted the past few years of life doing that. I work 3 jobs now trying to catch up, and it's impossible with our economy and inflation. Most millennials and Gen-Z that don't already own a home never will.

I've been buying T-Bills every week and maxing out my yearly I-bond purchase. I'm thinking about buying gold now as well.

Your gripes are real, but until you study bitcoin (it takes time for it to click) you won't understand why you're in this spot or how to escape it. Gold has a place in your portfolio too, depending on your age. I bought this gold deal, but in reality it's inferior to self-custodied bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the new Gold. Now is the DCA /accumulation time prior to the next halving cycle and supply shock.

Exactly this.

The only scenario where gold outperforms Bitcoin is following a world apocalypse that destroys the internet.

I wasn't paying attention to BTC in 2013 and I put $50k into gold/silver. today it's still worth about $50k, while $50k itself is worth much less due to inflation.

Had I put that same $50k into BTC, it would have been worth $50-66 million at the peak. I'm paying attention to BTC and Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) all this year.

OP deserves more credit for this post. It is roughly 2% less than spot on 7/4/23 and 6.8% less than APMEX is selling for right now if you pay by check/wire. 11% less than if by a credit card. True you need to be prepared for about 5% less than spot when you sell. But if you just consider this product for a purchase you make today, and you cash in on the Costco 4%, this deal is slick assuming prompt delivery and you were able to avoid sales tax. Arguably low risk if you sell quickly. Sure buying at less than spot could be indicative of lower prices in the future. You can always second guess your investments.

If you're going to buy gold, getting it at less than spot with a credit card with Costco's 4% back is a slick deal, no doubt about it.
