As you're basically showing, none of that matters. The price is manipulated by the govt and big banking like most anything else is. Sad but true. I used to have a lot of money in physical gold. The only real pattern is how strange the patterns are. The smartest thing is def to diversify and have as little as possible invested in anything that can be manipulated. So the only real sure shot is property / land, and even that can be manipulated some, but I think it's the least corruptible.

So many agencies, so many predictions:

In its gold price projection on 24 April ABN-Amro Group estimated the precious metal to average at $1,900/oz in 2023 and rise to $1,950 by the end of 2024.

ANZ Research projected gold to be trading at around $2,100 by the close of 2023, accelerating to $2,200 by September 2024.

The World Bank's long-term gold price forecast as of April 2023 expected gold prices to finish 2023 at $1,900, falling to $1,750 by the end of 2024.

Meanwhile, algorithm-based price forecasting service WalletInvestor was bullish in their gold rate prediction for the next 5 years as of 16 May. The website saw the metal rising to $2,289 by May 2028. WalletInvestor's projected gold price to trade at $2,090 in one year's time.

Exactly this.

The only scenario where gold outperforms Bitcoin is following a world apocalypse that destroys the internet.

I wasn't paying attention to BTC in 2013 and I put $50k into gold/silver. today it's still worth about $50k, while $50k itself is worth much less due to inflation.

Had I put that same $50k into BTC, it would have been worth $50-66 million at the peak. I'm paying attention to BTC and Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) all this year.
Your logic is so far from reality.

You bought gold at a peak and rode an immediate huge drop. If you would have bought gold in 2016, your gold would have nearly doubled in value. YOU made an investment mistake.

If you bought BTC at its peak in 2021, your btc would be worth less than half of what paid.

A 2013 investment in Amazon could have gotten you nearly a 10 fold return. That doesn't indicate that you should buy Amazon now!

You could have bought Terra Luna for $1 and sold it for $100 in less than one year. I guess that means Luna is better than gold too?

You could have also bought it for $115! Now it's worth less than $.01. You could have turned your $50,000 into $0.04!

It boggles my mind that you could believe that there is less risk with gold than BTC, minus an internet destroying world apocalypse.

Crypto has incredible risk. Buying and selling is fun and can be profitable. Putting $50,000 in and mindlessly letting it sit for 10 years is insanity.

You made a bad investment in gold and held out. You gave an accurate description of the results.

A bad investment in crypto could mean that your investment will become worthless.

Does anyone know how to sell these when prices are high?
Call around to your local coin shops and PM dealers, compare buyback prices, and sell to the one who offers the most

You are absolutely right!! BTC is virtual... It is almost like the Tulips mania in 1600s. Once the government comes out its own CBDC, BTC and other digital coins will be their enemy number 1. Of course, they will come after gold and silver too, but gold and silver has been around thousands of years, through change of empires, wars, civilizations, and they still remain as the only true money today. Gold and silver are God's money. At some point, when the previous metal market is not manipulated, or when the mass wakes up and see how our entire financial system is built on debts (read the Creature from Jekyll Island), that is when previous metals shine. As for any investment, dollar cost averaging is still the best way to invest.

I plan to hold. But this really is up to you. Do you think gold prices will go up or stay steady? If so hold. If you think it's going to crash, sell now.

Feel free to remind me in a few days if you want me to check. I used the Ink Business Unlimited - didn't realize premier was a thing. Looks like MS might be up to 10k unless you got a different offer.

Yeah it is no longer pending and still shows www costco com. Category is "merchandise and inventory" although that may be for my own records since it allows me to change that.

For most investors (pretty much all) putting 50k in the market on an index fund and leaving it alone has great returns compared to their other options. 50k in 2013 S&P index fund is today worth 156k. Certainly beat his gold hedging and didn't require the dude who used that original logic to try and time a market he is clearly incapable of timing (almost everyone is, the data doesn't lie).

These went back on sale this morning 7/7 for a short hour or two. I didn't think it was real so I tried placing an order and it went through... Then tried again and eventually got an email saying 1 cancelled and 1 shipped. Fingers crossed.
Costco website currently is back to showing "Page not found", but may have some benefit to keep checking...
