My son and I just finished installing a split ac similar to this one. I consider myself pretty handy with DIY projects, but this one was challenging. Getting a pro to install is probably a good choice for many homeowners.
What was so difficult?

Too bad the 12k isn't tosot aka gree.
Not quite as slick, but the 12k Tosot is available direct from them for a couple hundred bucks extra (https://tosotdirect.com/collectio...-pump-120v)

The Senville Leto is also in a similar price range (I believe these are made by midea and should be of similar quality) https://www.amazon.com/Senville-S...B00UV3LGUE

I bought a window ac and cut a hole in the wall.saved a ton of money
No, ya didn't. Window ACs are half as efficient as these best case scenario. And they only need about a 2.5" hole 🤣

I always go 120v if the price is the same. Less chance for install hurdles and efficiency difference is negligible.

The heat pump roof unit is interesting. I imagine efficiency would be about that of a window unit but still a very convenient way to add more efficient heat. When my RV AC konks out I was going to install a mini-split but this would be way easier. Curious what the performance difference would be in the real world.

Check out brand name Confortotal. 120v heat pump version has a regular 3 prong plug off the inside air handler. I installed one instead of a through wall sleeve. Using it for a year now including for heat this winter.

Does anyone know what size the line set is? Trying to find a replacement for 1/2 and 1/4" to replace my old unit.

Is the Tosot a good brand? I was thinking about pulling the trigger on the Tosot 18k btu but there is also pioneer 18k btu unit for a couple hundred more directly through pioneer. Any advice between the two?

I brought about 1k of tools to do a 5 inside units to a single outside unit, I did rent a N2 tank for 600 psi/48hr testing and brought a cheap 1S vacuum. Next time I'm getting better flaring tools for easier flares instead of a 12 dollar flare set but now have nicer tools now for the most part. So about 6k total.

Apparently I had friends got quoted for 15-25k for all outside wall mounts. For my installation, 4 of the 5 mounts were on inside walls.

Where did you get the flaring tool?
