It is. Got these for my kids during spring break and they've enjoyed growing the various monsters and fighting them. Lots of variations. They live they die and repeat. Like the movie but better. https://humulos.com/digimon/dm20/ nice website that has the different paths for monsters.

I remember having one of these as a kid before the TV show was even airing in the US. They had commercials just showing giant monsters fighting when you linked them together and that was enough to sell me on them.

I got my kids something similar which I though was the original Tamagotchi, but it only has 1 pet and it can be a bit boring doing the same thing over and over. This seems to have tons, in for a few.
