Build quality was good, battery life was good, screen was very good (though a bit dim for my liking @350 nits), trackpad is very generously sized. Typing was excellent for this category (good feedback and key travel, scooped keys vs flat)…very noticeable typing improvement vs it's nearly identical intel counterpart which has a mushy keyboard and flat keys with terrible feedback.
The 3050 isn't the best dGPU ofc and it's hamstrung with low Tdp due to size of this laptop…but it's the newer 6gb version and it's miles ahead of any intel integrated graphics, and the integrated Radeon graphics are also better than intel's offering. I was able to play games like LoL at ultra settings and native resolution at 120+ FPS easily….so this is great if you are a casual gamer and don't need the latest AAA titles at ultra settings. Fans are not very loud but noticeable when gaming. Didn't hear them at all during my coding/office suite/internet browsing use.
I really loved the combination of size and power this laptop offered. I returned mine because I wanted more of a desktop replacement, but for someone on the go I really think you'll be hard pressed to find better value than the slim pro 7. I'm gushing over this laptop a lot but that's just because I enjoyed using it so much, part of me still regrets returning it when I look at the 6 lb replacement sitting on my table. Maybe you'll get the one I returned 2 weeks ago lol.
BB also has it on sale new for $899. Lowest I've seen it is during their one day sale for $850, which is what I paid.
-Better screen (higher resolution, 90 Hz)
-Better build quality
-Better speakers
-Better performance (as far as benchmarks are concerned)
-Higher wattage RTX 3050 w/ 6 GB VRAM instead of 4 (likely not a huge difference, but still)
-Other niceties like 1080p webcam/Windows Hello, USB4, PCie Gen 4 SSD
Just gotta play the open box lottery - worse case scenario, should be an easy return.

Is there an option to buy an open box with the free shipping as the OP suggests?
I don't see this option on my end and only new are available locally.
