This might be out of the price range to be considered a slickdeal but if you're in the market for a capable mountain e-bike this could be a good deal. This is for their 2021 versions of their Turbo Levo SL line which are designed to be lightweight for an e-bike with less assistance than a full-fledged e-mountainbike. They come with a motor capable of up to 240 watts of pedal assistance and will assist up to speeds of 20mph/32 km/h which makes this a Class 1 e-bike. Check your local laws regarding the legality of operating a class 1 e-bike on trails.

These are designed after Specialized's non-electric Stumpjumper line if you're familiar with them. The front fork and rear shock can do 150mm of travel which is going to be plenty for most weekend warriors that will attack the trails.

If you're looking for more assistance at the expense of additional bike weight (and maneuverabily), you would be looking at their Turbo Levo line (not SL) but the deals aren't as good currently.

If your size is sold out online, you might be able to find it at your local authorized Specialized dealer which is what I had to do. They even threw in no tax for the holidays which saved me nearly an additional $500 but YMMV. You can try to negotiate by calling around.

Turbo Levo SL Comp (bike weight 41 lbs, 2x pedal assistance) $4499 (originally $7000) [specialized.com]

Turbo Levo SL Comp Carbon (bike weight 39 lbs, 2x pedal assistance) $5499 (originally $8000) OOS
[specialized.com]
Turbo Levo SL Expert Carbon $6999 (originally $10500) [specialized.com] OOS

I bought my first used Honda accord at this price.
Every person I know who has bought one of these has sold it in favor of a full-powered ebike. You're too fast to ride with acoustic bikes, and too slow to ride with the other electric bikers.

No, you can't "derestrict" it to have more power. Even if you could unlock the firmware, and you can't, it's built for absolute minimum weight and would burn up.

There's nothing wrong with the bike itself. But in my experience, you probably won't be happy with it. That's why resale is so bad: everyone buys it, realizes they should have bought a full-power Class 1 ebike, and passes it on to another rider just getting into ebikes who finds out the same thing.
Buy the full Levo. Great bike, SL is very underpowered. Also, Levo SL resale is junk if you ever go to sell it.

IMO Orbrea Rise, Trek Fuel EXE, or a Giant Trance Advanced X E+ is a much much better bike with much better value. The SL is okay, but you can get closer to a full power bike with the same weight.
All three of those are more expensive than the current $4500, some by quite a bit. I don't think it's a fair comparison.

As a follow up to this post, I just got my bike and road it yesterday on a trail that was about 10 miles with 1500 ft of climbing and it was great. I stayed on eco mode most of the time with occasionally switching to trail mode. I never went to full power boost mode. So I think if you're relatively in shape the SL with its 35nm should be fine. If you need more assistance then go for something with more power.

I'll chime in because I'm excited about this bike! I stopped posting/commenting after tiring of sleazy Slickdeals shenanigans: shill/paid posts and posting tobacco product deals (they kill!). SD is all about the greed.

Pricing: Purchased lightly used Specialized Turbo Levo Comp Carbon a year ago and just sold it today for 4k. While I had it, it depreciated about $75/month. Pretty good I think. Bike tech is moving fast and weights continue to drop as technology matures. All this puts downward price pressure. Decide if you'll keep this long term or jump in/out quick like me. You're going to take a hit on resale no matter what.

The Ride: For context I rode it in west North Carolina. Love this bike. Very balanced and super light weight: 38 pounds. The motor is very quiet and the ride is very assuring. Shocks soak up roots and rocks well. There were times I pushed myself hard carving corners with a stupid grin on my face. I was breathing hard and it was exhilarating. At times like this, all was right with the world! I never felt like I needed more than max power. This is a nice review and I agree with the pros and cons:
Code:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=76_PcfOiE7g
Advantages: use regular bike racks, easy to carry up stairs, looks like a normal bike, and I've used it where ebikes are not allowed (shhhh).

Disadvantages: High cost, depreciation

Other considerations: More powerful ebikes will be a lot heavier and more expensive. I'm not loyal to Specialized. I want a deal! If the Orbrea Rise, Trek Fuel EXE, or Giant Trance Advanced X E+ drop below 4k and 38 pounds, I'd consider buying. Other bikes and weights for comparison (none come close to this Specialized in price):
Scott Lumen eRIDE 900 SL – 15.5kg / 34.2 lbs
Orbea Rise M-LTD – 15.9kg / 35 lbs
Pivot Shuttle SL Team WC – 16.47kg / 36.3 lbs
Specialized Levo SL S-Works – 16.9kg / 37.2 lbs
Trek Fuel EXe 9.9 XTR – 17.47kg / 38.5 lbs
Giant Trance X Advanced E+ Elite 0 – 19kg / 41.9 lbs

Can stop reading here unless you want more context for my opinions: cyclist for 30+ years, built 400 bikes when I worked at Sports Authority (lol), ran a non-profit bike shop for 10 years, commuted to work by bike over 10,000 miles, mountain biked in 15+ states. Raced MTBs in college, raced in southeast series and one team 24 hour race, Moab, Fruita, Keystone CO, Potawatomi MI, GA, TN, FL, etc.

I'm lost in your comparison.

Are you certain this $4k model (Turbo Levo SL Comp) is 38lbs because the Turbo Levo SL S-Works is 38.25lb for a mere $22,500.

Is there any ebike for sub $4k weighting in at 38 lbs? Please let me know, I want one, Specialized or not.

Sorry, I didn't clarify I'm not comparing apples to apples. My Levo was previous generation Brose motor and frame. My size small/S2 weight was 38.3 lbs. Felt like a regular bike.
