This might be out of the price range to be considered a slickdeal but if you're in the market for a capable mountain e-bike this could be a good deal. This is for their 2021 versions of their Turbo Levo SL line which are designed to be lightweight for an e-bike with less assistance than a full-fledged e-mountainbike. They come with a motor capable of up to 240 watts of pedal assistance and will assist up to speeds of 20mph/32 km/h which makes this a Class 1 e-bike. Check your local laws regarding the legality of operating a class 1 e-bike on trails.
These are designed after Specialized's non-electric Stumpjumper line if you're familiar with them. The front fork and rear shock can do 150mm of travel which is going to be plenty for most weekend warriors that will attack the trails.
If you're looking for more assistance at the expense of additional bike weight (and maneuverabily), you would be looking at their Turbo Levo line (not SL) but the deals aren't as good currently.
If your size is sold out online, you might be able to find it at your local authorized Specialized dealer which is what I had to do. They even threw in no tax for the holidays which saved me nearly an additional $500 but YMMV. You can try to negotiate by calling around.
I bought my first used Honda accord at this price.
Every person I know who has bought one of these has sold it in favor of a full-powered ebike. You're too fast to ride with acoustic bikes, and too slow to ride with the other electric bikers.
No, you can't "derestrict" it to have more power. Even if you could unlock the firmware, and you can't, it's built for absolute minimum weight and would burn up.
There's nothing wrong with the bike itself. But in my experience, you probably won't be happy with it. That's why resale is so bad: everyone buys it, realizes they should have bought a full-power Class 1 ebike, and passes it on to another rider just getting into ebikes who finds out the same thing.
Buy the full Levo. Great bike, SL is very underpowered. Also, Levo SL resale is junk if you ever go to sell it.

Thanks for sharing. Looking to get into a high end ebike. How does this model compare to the Turbo Levo Carbon at $4999? Just not sure if this model is worth $500 more?

Do you think at $5K is a good price or potentially can drop more and how did you get the store to absorb the tax?
The Turbo Levo Carbon is more powerful, with a larger battery, but heavier. I don't know the exact weight but from what I can gather online it seems to be about 10 lbs heavier than the SL. It can give up to 565 Watts of power assistance (they call this 4x you) instead of 240 Watts of the SL (2x you). So it really depends on what you are looking for. Do you want something that can help you a lot but feels heavy and isn't going to be as nimble, or do you want something that is very similar to a non-e mountain bike but with just a little assistance? If you're already a pretty active mountain biker and don't mind breaking a sweat while climbing I would suggest the SL. If you're someone who is just looking to start becoming more active and don't really care too much about getting a really great workout but want to enjoy the trails and see more things, then the Turbo Levo is good.
It only seems to be $1k off the retail price so it doesn't seem as good of a deal as the SL. The no tax was in-store at a Specialized shop. They told me they were doing a promotion for no tax on bikes in the store but I asked them if they could do it for a bike I would order through them and they said no initially but I kept asking and the manager agreed to it to make the sale.

Really depends on your intended trails, weight and fitness level. I have that $5k one you linked, but if this was on sale at the time I probably would have been better off with it for the bigger battery 700wh vs 500wh and all the parts are a step up other than the frame isn't carbon: https://www.specialized.com/us/en...320-188254
These SL bikes are better for very fit riders IMO.
NX Eagle and a Fox 34 on a $7,000 bike...Even at 4500 I'd hope for better. They aren't bad per se, but c'mon. Remove the E-bike and this is a $3,000 spec'ed bike.

This is how you get sucked in. I'd probably go with the Expert Carbon level to step up to the SRAM X01 drivetrain, but you are still getting aluminum wheels. The sale prices are reasonable, but can't see paying MSRP for these.
I do really like these newer lighter weight ebikes that are coming out. I tried to talk my wife into one, but she doesn't want to ride an ebike.
IMO Orbrea Rise, Trek Fuel EXE, or a Giant Trance Advanced X E+ is a much much better bike with much better value. The SL is okay, but you can get closer to a full power bike with the same weight.
If you are a strong peddler you can keep up with full powered bikes, assuming they stay in ECO.
My riding buddy has this generation Super Light (SL) and generally can keep up most reasonable climbs. We can easily lose him going up if we wanted, but for hanging out and riding, he's not the slowest in the group.
He has a Fox Factory 36 and uses an external piggy-back battery to go with us for 3 hours. He swapped the derailleur to AXS. Otherwise, same motor, battery, frame, wheels, and shock.

Aren't those more expensive (street price not msrp)?

Nah should really be about similar to the specialized, especially if you can find older models. I got a 22 Orbea Rise H15 for $5,100, so about 30% off
