It's unfortunate that the stronger you get the more you have to spend on weights.

Not great incentive.

Just as an fyi - relative to the other 210lb weight plate for $150 currently on the other frontpage deal...

It's a $70 difference for 120lbs of weights. i.e. $0.58 per lb for the incremental 120 lbs

anyone know how these compare to the BalanceFrom weight plates in terms of quality?

No conclusive evidence but I can assure you they are all of the same quality (which is good for beginner/intermediate use). If you're planning to extensively olympic lift with these, I'd suggest you buy plates with more stable/larger center hubs to withstand the shock of drops. If you're just using for regular lifts, they'll last you a long time with no issue.

The one annoying thing between different brands sometimes is that the outer diameter may be off slightly (like .25"), that only makes a difference for the OCD ones - which unfortunately is me.

I own both, they are both good. Maybe a little more of a rubber odor to the CAP ones, but I have them under a month. The smell is significantly less than when I bought them. If I needed more weight In the future I would be happy to purchase more of either brand, whatever is on sale.

Edit:
My only additional note is if you get a set of the Balance form, the 10s are very thin and bend. like you wouldn't use them by themselves, it has to be used as additional weight. but the 25s and 45s are great.

Simply because the type of rubber is mentioned from CAP I would prefer CAP. Virgin rubber has been reported to be non-toxic. It is unclear from everything I can find what type of rubber is used by balancefrom.

edit: The other relevant variable is the warranty which is MUCH longer on the balancefrom. That may be an indication of the quality (30 days vs 2 years).

Its been a while, but there were reports that the Balance Form outer diameter for 25s was larger than their 45s, which could be an issue if you deadlift and drop (or do olympic lifts and drop from height)
