For what its worth I went through 5 of these last month because of Bluetooth crackling issues, some worse than others and I couldn't replicate it on any other Bluetooth speakers when my devices were connected . Sent them all back, decent speaker when it works... But apparently lots of firmware issues they never fixed mentioned on forums
For $5 more you can get a Show 8. I think it has better speaker than this and you can do a lot more. no?
Edit.. ok speakers are better in ECHO with 3.0" (76.2 mm) neodymium woofer and two 0.8" (20 mm) tweeters.VS. 2.0" (52 mm) neodymium speakers with passive bass radiator. in Show 8. Still a tough choice given the cost and feature.
I had the original Echo, and now Show 8. The sound on the Show 8 is quite impressively good.

I bought two of these plus a fire Stick so I could have a stereo home theater setup on my Samsung TV. The Fire Stick was required, as the stereo pairing is done through wifi and only works on a Fire device. Lame. The only other option is to connect to my Samsung TV via Bluetooth to one speaker, and run an auxiliary cable to the other speaker's AUX-in. But it doesn't sound good at all, and I'm not sure if it's actually stereo or two mono channels.
I have no problem with the Fire Stick,, and it's an easy setup. But I began having problems once I'd turn on my VPN. Once the VPN app is connected through the Fire Stick, the speakers can no longer connect. Just putting this out there for anyone who might have the same usage in mind. Also, I have gigabit wifi, and every time a youtube add comes on, it seems to stutter and have to reconnect, and once the add is over, or sometimes even when starting a new video, the audio takes a moment to sync up. Ultimately I usually have them unpaired from the TV because it's such a nuisance, and sort of makes the $150 investment (2 speakers on sale + Fire Stick) seem not really worth it.
Lastly, whenever I ask Alexa to play something on Spotify via voice command, it only ever plays just on one speaker. The only way I can get Spotify to play on both speakers is to start it through Spotify on my phone and casting it to the speaker profile made through the Echo app.
Sound quality is good for $50, no way I'd pay full price for two of these with all of these annoying quirks.

Just FYI - the sound on the Echos starting with the 2nd version improved dramatically. The first Echo (which I still have somewhere, tall and black) sounds like trash in comparison.
Thanks for researching & posting the speaker specs, that's always helpful.
An Echo is better for my purposes than the Show. We're all different!
I agree, but I think Amazon is showing what the prices will be on Prime day. I feel like they won't be cheaper than this. An Echo for $55? A Dot for $22? These prices are about as it good as it gets.

I may be proven very wrong on Monday, of course.
They're given out like candy for free sometimes when you purchase other Amazon gear. Ymmv and depends on the item.
