These were a lifesaver when I had Xfinity and their useless tech support couldn't figure out why they were dropping signal on my modem.
You need to compile your own build of Tasmota to enable the PING command, but I had it so it would ping Google every 5 minutes to determine whether I had internet or not. If it was down, it would cycle the outlet the modem was connected to.
The scripting language in Tasmota is robust enough that I was able to have it add time between flipping the power if it had consecutive unsuccessful ping/flip sequences, thus putting less strain on the relay.
The only downside (possible upside if you like auditory queues) is that the relays are pretty loud. They definitely won't work well in any quiet setting.

Secondly I have a raspberry pi that controls all my 3d printing with octoprint. It has plugins including tasmota plugin that controls the power, I can turn it on remotely, and then start a print, and I have it set to power it down about 30 mins after print is done (to let it cool down). Other plugins I use include obico (formerly spaghetti detective) which watches for prints going haywire and I can check video stream from it anytime anywhere, a plugin to monitor filament usage and can tell me how much I have left on a spool, and others.
What's the benefit of having wifi on these ?

I've got a charger for Nintendo Switch controllers that charges them up and then they sit there with a green light and drain until they're pulled off (and put back on) the charger or its power cycled. After 45 minutes, I have it turn off for 15 minutes so that they'll always be charged when I want them.
We made a DIY aerogarden that'll power on the pump at certain times and separately power off/on the UV LEDs (I think a lot more customizing is needed to make this work well though).
We've got a light that needs a button to be pressed to turn it on/off. I have it on a smart switch so I can turn it off (and then when it's turned off, it waits 5 seconds and turns the power back on and it's ready for the button to be pressed).
Literally, anything that you might need to turn on/off to make anything a little easier.
These have power monitoring, so you may not even want to use them to power something on/off, but to know when something is running. I've got a different type on my washer/dryer [gas, not electric] to know when they're running.
I use Home Assistant[home-assistant.io] to manage the automations and I had used Tuya-Convert in 2020 to flash them ... we'll see how easy these new ones are to re-flash.
Do these store the schedule for ON/OFF times on the device? Or work without the internet / WiFi once set up? I have a couple Kasa KP115's that once the schedule is set up it resides on the device. I use one to turn off my old WiFi router. The KP115 reliably turns off then on the router it uses for it's internet connection, router turns back on at the set time without router / internet. Thanks.

Thanks. Trying to find a way to shut off power to 3D printer if the heating elements turn off. Should be a pretty significant change in draw when it happens.
If you use Octoprint you can configure it to publish a message to mqtt/web api when the print completes. I don't recall if it was a plug-in or built in but I remember setting it up back when I was printing regularly (used a KMC smart plug no less, but not this one). In my opinion getting the printer to tell the switch to turn off is going to be easier than trying to use the power monitoring.

Exactly. I think most are compatible now and I always seem to see comments early on about it as well. As popular as Alexa integration is, the product title on its page has the info right in it. They realize it is important. Would always be very helpful for OP to include the data. Especially when it is a staff-promoted post.

Attempting to diagnose the issue...
Your device does not use an ESP82xx.
This means you cannot flash custom ESP firmware even over serial.
So no luck
