This is Energy Star rated, so check your utility company's website for rebates. Mine offers $50.

In bucketless mode, these take up half the space compared to the regular style. Plus the air intake on these covers 3 sides of the unit instead of just one. The only downside to this style is that if you use it with the bucket without the pump, it's a hassle to empty the bucket because you have to lift the whole unit to reach the bucket.

I think Midea is one of those "think differently" kind of companies. They came up with a U shaped window AC unit which is all the rage. Had a write up a month or so ago in the Wall Street Journal.

There was the same deal a couple of days ago, also on Amazon, but that one did *not* offer extended protection. The OP's has 4 Years for $18.

Per the other thread, it is highly recommended this model - and lower-end dehumidifiers in general - be purchased with extended coverage.

These newer version black ones have less air flow, more noise than the more expensive white version that they don't reduce this low in price. I've been watching the white 20 pint price for at least 6 months and lowest I've seen is $124 for an open box like new. Black one Also has a pump that the white one doesn't. Makes you wonder why this $99 deal on the black one keeps popping up weekly now. I would definitely buy that $18 warranty. Highly doubt either version will last more than a couple of years if living in an area that requires extended periods of dehumidification.

Why get a "cube" dehumidifier and not a regular style one?

I don't have one, but I think some of the appeal might be that it's smaller to store when not in use. In Ohio, I run mine probably April to October then stow it away for winter. Current one is a two year old Danby, working fine, but thinking of getting this for when it fails, which it will. I typically get about 2-3 years out of them.

Who would ever purchase a product with 29% one star ratings on Amazon?

I'm very sensitive to appliances that make noise. Is this one quiet when it runs?

I have the and it sucks ass regarding WiFi connectivity. Always loses connection and I have to unplug and replug to get it to work so that also messes with scheduling ability. Unless you want it running non-stop I wouldn't recommend. Smart features are not reliable

If you want to cool the garage you want a portable AC unit. If want to remove moisture probably want a higher pint dehumidifier since the garage is probably more humid. My house in Houston is normally 74 DB 65-70% RH in the Summer heat and with this it can get to about 74 DB 55-60% RH when I have it set to 50 or 55% RH. Can't remember which setting I used. It is kind of loud for indoors on high fan speed. If I used Low fan speed the unit would be on for a LONG time
